Mosaics participants have the opportunity to work at National Parks and gain valuable
work experience. Interns are paid a $4,800 stipend, all travel costs, and are providedhousing (or a housing allowance) for the duration of the project.

Latino HeritageInternship Programwith Environment for the Americas
Age 18 to 35 Be a US citizen, legal resident, or have a J-1 Visa Be enrolled in a post-secondary educational program or have
graduated from college within the past one year Have a strong interest or relevant experience in areas
pertaining to history, historic preservation, museum studies,archaeology, cultural interpretation, anthropology or otherrelated fields
Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) -- helpful and more needed forsome positions

Applications must be submitted by February 6, 2016.Top candidates will be selected for interviews.
Placement decisions will generally be made by April. The paid 10-week internship period will begin in late May through
early June 2016 and conclude in August through early September2016 depending on specific requirements of the project site.
TIME FRAME
Applications will be reviewed and rated according to the followingcriteria - relevant educational and work experience, oral and writtencommunication skills, maturity, professionalism, technical knowledgeand expertise, evidence of adaptability and adventurousness, andability to work effectively with diverse audiences. Final candidates willundergo a background check before beginning their assignment.
SELECTION CRITERIA
~ Connecting Cultures ~
L atino Heritage Internship Program (LHIP) engages the next generationof conservation stewards. The program raises awareness of ournational parks and historic sites, their accessibility and the need forthe Latino communitys involvement in their preservation. Highly motivated
undergraduate and graduate students will be selected to work alongside NPS
historians, interpreters, archaeologists, architects, and curators on projects
in different park units, ofces and historical sites throughout the nation.
Students will have substantive
assignments in their areas of
study, work closely with NPS staff
day-to-day and receive
additional mentoring and supportthrough EFTA. These 10-week
internships are compensated
with a weekly stipend, and
housing and transportation costs
are fully covered.
