2017 PRESIDENT REPORT Greetings, to the members and friends of the Standardbred Association of Queensland, I have been tasked with reporting on the activities of 2017. It has been a year of achievements and including a couple of firsts. This year has been the first to have the Track to Hack series in Queensland. This competition rewards horses that are performing well in the show scene. This year’s final had an awesome line up that would be highly competitive in open competition. We are hoping to include more agricultural shows as qualifiers in 2018. Our two Open State Championships for Showjumping and Dressage went well and I encourage more people to attend. There are beginner classes and there is a friendly encouraging atmosphere. Why not check out the 2018 competitions? You can compete in one class only if you want, or all that you are eligible for. These competitions are open to all breeds, but there are classes for Standardbreds only. If you attend both the Dressage and Showjumping you can use the performance in each competition to nominate for the Combined Training Award. The National High Point Awards saw a Queensland horse take out a national title. Now to our own SAQ State end of year awards. I was disappointed that more people did not enter for these awards. It appears that the system of a card for each award and each result having to be signed by an official is difficult. So we are looking to make the system easier with one card and one signature per show attended. Hopefully that means that some of the categories that we had no entries in are able to have award recipients in 2018. Our adoption program is going great guns, and if you are looking to add a Standardbred to your collection please contact Mellissa Bell, our adoption co-ordinator. As you know Standardbreds are like Doritos, you can’t have just one. I myself have added a red mare to my paddock and hope to get out and about with her in 2018. We will be celebrating a milestone soon of our 1000th horse adopted through SAQ. So onward and upward in 2018, and another milestone we will be celebrating is the 20 year anniversary of the establishment of SAQ. There will be of course cake and a party, but there will also be other gifts and opportunities through 2018 for members. So keep an eye on our Facebook page and the newsletters for details. So in conclusion, have a happy and safe Christmas, a bright new year and hug your horses. Regards, Owanna (SAQ President)

Horse Information
Race Name Dutch Cream Sex Gelding
Breed Standardbred Color/Size Bay 16hh (Solid Build)
Sire Pacific Fella USA Dam Preserved
DOB 29/12/2005 Brand S3051191
Dutchy is a very nice looking horse, with a friendly personality, great work ethic, excellent ground manners, and good to handle, catch, float and worm etc. Dutchy has a solid build. Dutchy was retired sound from racing in December
2016, and is currently in good paddock condition. He can be a little head strong at times, so would be better suited to someone with some horse experience. Dutchy is currently at our trainers to be started under saddle. If you are
interested in adopting Dutchy, you have the opportunity to visit him at our trainers, with the option of lessons and further training assistance if required. Dutchy’s owner would like to see him go to the best of homes, as he has been a
stable favourite with their family.

geldings or stallions.
This, unique to the Standardbred, low cost national competition does not require interstate travel, it all
happened in your home state.
Each state association, participating in this competition, nominates 4 shows that offer led and ridden classes
that lead to a Supreme Led Exhibit sash presentation and a Ridden Champion sash presentation.
The shows for Queensland are:

$20 for each section you wish to contest – either led or ridden or both. The maximum entry fee is $40.
You will be issued with a National High Point performance card. This card is to be taken to each of the 4
shows, where you are to record your placings and have the card signed by the judge or ring steward. All

• National High Point Performance Horse sashes will be presented to the horse, in each section (junior and senior), with
the highest combined (led and ridden) points. In the event of a draw of points for a National High Point Performance
Horse there will be a count of all horses competed against at the four nominated shows i.e. number of geldings, mares
and stallions leading up to each Supreme or Champion. We are sorry but there can only be one National High Point
Performance Horse in each section.
Horseland vouchers, valued at $50, will be presented to the 10 Champions and the 2 National Performance Horses will

advised and prize values increased.
