Created by an Act of Parliament Cap 256 of the Laws of Kenya
Auxiliary to the GoK, mandated to aid Government in response to both Natural & Man made disasters.
Has a network of 70,000 volunteers, 8 Regions & 64 Branches countrywide.

Risk Reduction. Health and Social Services: Both communicable and non
communicable Diseases, MNCH, Blood Safety, & Social Services.
Water and Sanitation: Hygiene promotion & sanitation, Water supply & irrigation.

KRCS Core Areas
Need
KRCS responsibility to be the lead humanitarian agency of choice for Government & other stakeholders.
Respond to disasters in the shortest time possible through 64 branches, 8 regions & HQ networks.
Prepositioning of NFIs for up to 30,000 families.
Support to 5 million Kenyans affected by both natural and /or manmade disasters annually.
KRCS warehouse with prepositioned stock.
Opening of an IDP house funded by Norwegian RC.
Positioning of stock at KRCS Headquaters.
ChallengesNo donor wants to give grants to an organization that lacks Credibility, Accountability, Transparency, good leadership and Governance.
