2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
January 17, 2021
My Dear Friends, “He said to them, “Come, and you will see” (John 1:39). How many times throughout the stories of the Gospels and the Letters written in the New Testament, we hear Christ inviting us to “follow Him?” From John the Baptist saying “Prepare the Way of the Lord,” to His disciples, Jesus is always wanting and seeking us to “Come to Him.” This all sounds easy, but our problem arises when we allow so many worldly distractions to occupy our thoughts. Diana Ross once sang a song called, The Theme from Mahogany. The first lines say it the best, “Do you know, where you’re going to, do you like the things that life is showing you, where are you going to you, do you know?” With so many worldly distractions in our lives, we need to ask ourselves questions. If we are not accepting Jesus’ invitation to Come and See, what are we seeing? Where are we going? Who are we following? What is more important in our lives than Jesus Christ? Why don’t we want to follow Him? Are we scared to deal with the real issues that are destructive in our lives? Can we forgive ourselves? These questions are very impactful for meditation. As we begin Ordinary Time, what better way to reflect upon some areas in our lives that we need our Lord to heal. This can only happen, if we accept the Lord’s invitation in our lives. “Come and See” should be the mantra that we use. For those of us who truly want to seek our Lord, we will accept this invitation. Last Sunday, I talked about our “Spiritual Leprosy.” Leprosy is a disease that affects the skin, the nerves, upper respiratory, and eyes. A disease that destroys you from within, when we do not accept Christ invitation to “Come and See.” We truly need to be careful that we do not fall into Spiritual Leprosy. Our sinfulness becomes a disease from the within. Let us allow Christ to enter our lives and accept his invitation to “Come and See.”
God bless you all, Fr. Junior

The Fiber Arts Ministry began in 2010 as a ministry dedicated to sharing the work of our hands for the benefit of others. As a group, we come together to work on various “fiber related” projects for the benefit of the parish as well as other charitable efforts. Most members work on baby blankets that are donated to the parish and presented to parents at the Baptism of their child. Some members work on prayer shawls or similar projects and all are welcome to work on personal projects as well. Throughout the year we also work on hats and scarves that are donated to the parish’s St. Vincent De Paul Society to distribute to those in need during the Christmas season. We also provide lap blankets for our parish priests to give to the homebound, and those in nursing homes or in the hospital. We currently meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. in the conference room of the parish office located at the St. Lawrence site. If you are looking for a relaxing evening of fiber related fun, we hope you will come join us. You may contact Alice Garbarino at 609-405-3678 or by email [email protected] for more info or stop in for a visit during one of our meetings. All are welcome.
Finding Stewardship: “Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’” - JOHN 1:38 What are you looking for? Are you wasting your time looking for the material comforts of the world? Or, is your heart longing for something deeper that can only be found by spending time with God? Take time, each day, to live your Stewardship, by asking the Lord what it is that He wants you to do.

We need Our Lady's intercession today more than ever: Whatever our fears, be it the pandemic, cancer, violent acts, or addictions, our Lady will never abandon us, her children. In 1917, while World War I was raging, she made that very clear when she appeared to three children in Fatima. From March through October, our Lady made multiple appearances to Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco, exhorting them to pray the Rosary always. After Pope St. John Paul II recovered from an assassination attempt on a Fatima anniversary, May 13, 1981, he made a pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal, to place the bullet that almost killed him in our Lady's crown, convinced that she had steered the bullet and saved his life.
A beautiful statue of Our Lady of Fatima is available for parishioners to have in their homes for a two-week period, made possible by the Legion of Mary here at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Shrine. All safety and sanitizing protocols are maintained with regard to the statue itself and its carrier, so please be assured that it is in pristine condition when delivered to your home.
To schedule a two-week period, please call

¿A dónde vas?". ¿A dónde vamos? ¿A quién seguimos? ¿Podemos perdonarnos a nosotros mismos?
