In November 2018 the Catholic Bishops of the United States released a Pastoral Letter Against Racism called, Open Wide Our Hearts. The letter is a powerful invitation for all the people of God to “face courageously the vice of racism, reach out generously to the victims of this evil, to assist the conversion needed in those who still harbor racism, and to begin to change policies and structures that allow racism to persist.”
You can read this entire letter, get new resources and find ideas on how to respond at usccb.org/racism. There is a study guide to accompany the letter which can be downloaded for free as well.
Your Giving Still Matters
For many of you, your weekly donations are brought with you to Mass. We encourage you to either mail in your weekly donations or sign up for e-Giving options if you aren’t able to sign up & attend one of the Masses. Our parish still depends on the Sunday collection. Currently, just as in normal, healthy times, your weekly tithe is essential for the parish in achieving our mission. MAIL YOUR DONATIONS TO: Holy Spirit Catholic Church 355 E. Champlain Drive, Fresno, CA 93730 OR SIGN UP FOR E-GIVING : If you would like to give electronically, please visit holyspiritfresno.org. Select “Financial/Online Giving” then Select the “Online Giving” box. If you sign up on the website to attend a Weekend Mass, the collection baskets will be placed by the EXIT doors for your convenience as you are leaving the church.

God’s Words Each day we are bombarded with thousands of words. From the moment our clock radios click on in the morning, un l the last moment of the day when the television is turned off or someone bids us “good-night,” our life is filled with words.
Some words that we hear bring news that leaves us feeling low. Some words li our spirits. Many of the words we hear are trying to get us to buy something. Some words are hur ul.
Today the Church focuses our a en on on hearing the word of God. Are God’s words just more of the same—part of the endless stream of words that flow into our ears each day?
The challenge today is to allow God’s word to inspire us in new ways so that our outlook and a tudes align themselves more closely with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus.
