Command Sgt. Maj. SamYoung, Field Artillery SchoolCSM, said all the recognizedSoldiers have earned theright to be called profession-als, and they are a goodexample of more dooah thanhooah.

“As fires professionals wehave to capitalize on our(individual) strengths, butwe have to deal with ourweaknesses,” Young said.“We deal with them throughtraining and leader develop-ment.”

Quarterly and SAMCboards give Soldiers thetools to evaluate their abilityto become Army profession-als, he said.

“Don’t be in the Army tohave a job, be in the Army tobecome a professional,”Young said.The difference isthat professionals pursueexcellence throughout theircareers.

Fourth quarter SoldierPfc. Eavian Allen, 4-3rd

ADA, was the Soldier of thequarter. Allen distinguishedhimself by certifying as thethird best missile crew inthe area of responsibilityand the second best crew inthe battalion, said Staff Sgt.Kristopher Carnes, 31stADA, who introducedAllen.

Allen outperformed manyof his peers by winning hisbattery’s board competitionswhile still completing hisdaily duties as a force pro-tection guard, Carnes said.His willingness to trainSoldiers far exceeded what

was expected of him. He rep-resents what all Soldiersshould emulate.

Sgt. Audie Murphy ClubDrill Sergeant (Sgt. 1st

Class) Robert Jones, StaffSgt. Khristan Brading, ofA/4-3rd ADA, and DrillSergeant (Staff Sgt.) RyantBell became the newestmembers of the eliteSAMC.

“It’s an honor to be induct-ed. It’s something that I’vebeen working at since I gotin the military seven yearsago,” said Bell, who isassigned to E Battery, 1stBattalion, 40th FieldArtillery.

Each inductee was intro-duced by one of his subor-dinate Soldiers. Pfc.Rebecca Schug introducedJones, who works at B/1-40th.

“According to his col-leagues in Bravo Battery, he(Jones) produces the bestSoldiers ... respects others,their pasts and their goals,”Schug said.“He is a drill ser-geant who spends long frus-trating hours moldingSoldiers into the best thatthey can be.”

Army wife JessicaBrading attended the cere-mony to see her husband,Khristan inducted.

“I’m very proud of him. It’sa very distinguished club,”said Jessica, who broughttheir children, Bianca, 17,and Kiani, 14.

Maj. Gen. DavidHalverson, Fires Center ofExcellence and Fort Sillcommanding general, con-gratulated the awardees, andpresented them each with anArmy Commendation Medaland his coin of excellence.

He also thanked thenumerous sponsors whogave the Soldiers gifts.

Maj. Gen. David Halverson, Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill commanding general, congratulates Pfc. Eavian Allen,4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery, for his selection at the Soldier of the quarter, 4th quarter 2011. Allen received theArmy Commendation Medal, the commanding general’s coin of excellence and numerous gifts from sponsors.
