19 – 11 OCTOBER 2019, ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS
We would like to welcome you and invite you to participate at our 39th Congress that will take place from 9 – 11 October 2019 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Last year, at ESSO 38, we unveiled our Strategic Plan 2018 – 2022 outlining our vision to establish an annual meeting which attracts a larger multidisciplinary audience and to create a must-attend forum where cancer surgeons from different specialties and backgrounds learn from each other. Rotterdam, a buzzing metropolis with a breath-taking skyline where more than 170 nationalities live and work together, is connected by a direct (26 minute) train to Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport and provides the ideal stage for translational debate and intercultural exchange. One of the easiest ways to get to Rotterdam is to travel by train; the station is a 10 minutes’ walk from the congress centre. An increasing number of European cities provide direct flights to Rotterdam The Hague Airport, the second regional airport in the Netherlands. Our mission is to provide delegates with unique educational workshops, to highlight the significance of a multidisciplinary approach in the management of solid tumours and to provide a platform to interact and establish new collaborations.
This year, our congress theme is “Delivering Excellence in Cancer Surgery” and the comprehensive three-day scientific programme devised by leading scientific and surgical experts aims to raise the quality level of surgical oncology care in Europe by exploring latest developments and key aspects in surgical oncology through an array of interactive sessions. We plan to showcase state-of-the-art advances in surgical research, patient management and practice, standards in surgical oncology, key guidelines, practice changing developments through Plenary Lectures, Meet the Expert Sessions, Debates, Scientific Symposia and Poster Sessions in well-defined tracks covering the main tumour sites. Poster sessions and posters in the spotlight will take place integrated with the industry exhibition area making sure that participants will have the most contact with industry representatives.
ESSO 39 will offer a scientific environment and platform for the oncology and surgical oncology community, including general surgeons, surgical oncologists of different specialties, students, surgeons in training, residents, specialist nurses and all health-care workers involved in managing cancer patients. The event promises extraordinary educational and networking opportunities to provide a richer understanding of the latest techniques to manage solid tumours so that delegates can return to their institutions with practice-changing insights for the benefit of cancer patients across Europe and beyond. We look forward to welcoming you in Rotterdam.

99 – 11 OCTOBER 2019, ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS
About Postillion Convention Centre WTC Rotterdam
In the vibrant heart of the city of Rotterdam arises the World Trade Centre Rotterdam, which houses the Postillion Convention Centre WTC Rotterdam. This iconic building is one of the few buildings, which survived the World War II bombing of Rotterdam. The former exchange halls of the city now function as the epic centre of the Convention Centre.
The Rotterdam Hall, with its 1000 m², is the main conference room. The three central halls in front of the Rotterdam Hall are used as breakout space for exhibitions, catering, poster sessions and much more. There are several smaller conference rooms situated around the main meeting room can even host ten sub-sessions for 100 people each.
A unique venue in the heart of Rotterdam is Zaal Staal, the former Chamber of Commerce room. The 400 m² exudes an atmosphere with allure for a meeting, welcome reception or dinner. The Town Hall room on the 23rd floor with a great view of the Rotterdam Skyline can be used to impress to the max.
Rotterdam has a compact city centre and 1,500 hotel rooms ranging from economy to luxury can be found within a five-minute walk of the Convention Centre.
