A WORD OF PROPHECY.

“ I am not the Messiah. I do not pretend to be the Christ. I have possessed the gift of prophecy from birth, have given numerous well authenticated demonstrations of the power, and here before the most exalted court of the state will make a prediction which I call upon all to remember. Theodore Roosevelt will be the president of the United States in succession to William McKinley. He will serve two terms and be followed by a Republican. T he Democrats have elected their last president. At the end of twenty years a party known as the Union Labor Party will absorb the remnants of the Democracy and its allies and labor will elect a president.”—Denver N ew s, May 8, 1901.

ITEM S AND IDEAS.

In th e daysOf these k in g sThe God of H eavenH as se t up a K ingdomW hich sh a ll never be destroyed:And th is K ingdom shall no t he le ft to

o ther people.

I t sha ll b reak in pieces and consume all o th e r k ingdom s, and i t shall stand forever.

“T he stone w as cu t ou t of th e m ounta in w ith o u t h an d s .” In o th e r w ords, i t w as th e k ingdom of S p ir it and th e K ing of th is K ingdom re ig n s by th e S ilen t W ord.

T he fu ll t i t le of th is k in g is I AM th a t I AM. H e h a s been know n on the e a rth a s Je su s C h ris t, “The K ing of the Jew s.” H e h a s m ade h im se lf know n to me as A lpha, th e S peaker of th e W ord.

T he I AM m ay assum e any nam e th a t su its H is purpose. I have know n him by various nam es. I know he is om niscient, omn ip resen t, and om nipoten t. I know th is by ac tua l experience and p rac tica l dem onstration.

H elen W ilm ans speaks of b ra in , b ra in , b ra in a s th e c rea to r of conditions. Such m ateria lism gives one th a t tired feeling w hich often comes to th is brain . The idea of th is li t t le box of g ray m a tte r called th e “b ra in ” c rea tin g any th ing!

E v ery th ing th a t is w orth know ing cam e to m an th ro u g h in sp ira tio n . E dison invented the elec tric lig h t th ro u g h a flash from the sun ligh t of T ru th . He had worked and w orked a t th e problem , w hen one day i t suddenly came to him like a flash of L igh t from th e R ad ian t Center. T his is tru e of all th e w orld’s progress. In ou r unfoldm ent, the S p ir it of T ru th b rings us th in g s when we a re ready to receive.

# # # H elen W ilm ans has been a rrested for giv ing absent trea tm en ts . I t seems to be a case of sp ite caused by an tagonism aroused by too m uch com m ercialism connected w ith th e healing. I know w hat i t means. I had to send aw ay a ll o f m y help, and have m y w ork done down tow n a t th e p rin te rs under con tract. I even sen t H elen aw ay for a w hole th ree m on ths’ vacation . My w ife and I did the w ork and gave tre a tm en ts every day and banished th e com m ercial v ibration from our house and especially from th e healing room. H er desk and ty p ew rite r were

moved u p s ta irs in to th e hea lin g room . T h is w orked so w ell th a t I moved m y desk up th ere and so th e w hole w orld w as sh u t off from us. Since th en we have had no troub le in h ea ling th e sick and lif t in g up those who a re in troub le and sorrow .

In b u ild in g h e r “C ity B eau tifu l” ou t of m a tte r , H elen W ilm ans h as a ttra c te d to h erse lf greed, envy, jealousy, and a ll th e o th er dev ils of com m ercial th ough t. The B eau tifu l C ity is th e H oly C ity, th e New Jerusalem , w hich cam e down from God out of H eaven, adorned as a b ride fo r h e r husband. In o th e r w ords, th e C ity B eau tifu l is a W om an; a ll w om en who a re redeem ed from th e cu rse of th e Law are b rid es adorned fo r th e one H usband who is th e I AM th a t I AM. I t w as H elen W ilm ans’ own self, h e r own w om anhood th a t she w as to bu ild and no t a c ity m ade w ith hands. She had lost sight of h e r self in these m a te ria l th ings. F o r a w hile I m ade th e sam e m istake. I spent th o u san d s and thousands of do llars m in ing fo r gold, w hen suddenly th e I AM showed me m y rea l gold m ine. I t w as m y wife. As soon as th e S p ir it revealed to me th a t my w ife w as th e gold m ine, I im m ediately closed th e m a te ria l m ines. T h is is one place w here we a re prone to m ake m istakes; ta k

I suddenly found m yself in th e sun and rem ained th e re a ll th e n ig h t long lis ten in g to w ords; and as suddenly found m yself ag a in on th e e a r th and in my body. I w as no t in th e body, fo r I d is tinc tly beheld m y own body before I en tered i t on m y re tu rn from these v isits. I t w as n o t a d ream or even a v ision ; I w as w ide aw ake d u rin g a ll th e tim e. I u n d ers tan d w h a t St. P au l m eans w hen he speaks of being “caught up in to th e th ird heaven.” He says: “W hether in th e body o r ou t of th e body, I can no t te ll, God know eth .” The only w ay I know I w as ou t of th e body is th a t I saw m y body upon m y re tu rn . Suffice i t to say to m y read ers th a t the th in g s I heard a re being fulfilled and I w ill te ll you every th ing I know as fa s t as th e S p ir it w ill le t me te ll it.

“D ear Tom : A t th e top of page 29 in you r book, V ibrations, you say: ‘A ll th is ta lk about w an tin g to p e rpe tua te life on the m o rta l plane is th e foolish p ra ttle of babes’— and now, in la s t tw o or th ree issues of C h r i s t i a n , you say th a t Mrs. E ddy, H elen W ilm ans, etc., w ill no t pass ou t of the body. Now, w hen w ere you rig h t—viz., w hen you w rote V ibrations, o r now? A reader of C h r i s t i a n . J. L. P .”

I w as r ig h t w hen I w rote V ibrations and I AM rig h t now. W hat is th e m a tte r w ith Shelton? He is a ll rig h t! All th is ta lk about w an ting to perpetuate life here on th e m orta l plane is th e foolish p ra ttle of babes. I h ea rtily endorse th is s ta tem en t of Shelton in h is book called th e Law of V ibrations. I also endorse h is prophecy concerning im m orta lity of H elen W ilm ans and M ary Baker. I t is no t the p erp e tu a tin g of life on the m orta l plane, bu t the ascending from th e m orta l to th e im m ortal, from genera tion to regeneration , from death in to life. I t is no t physical im m ortality , bu t the m an ifesta tion of sp iritu a l im m ortality . The S p ir it is im m ortal, bu t th e body is m ortal. The tim e is a t hand

w hen the “w ith o u t w ill be a s th e w ith in .” In o ther words, th e body w ill be in un ison w ith th e S p irit. B ut, bless you, m y D ear, th is does no t m ean th e p e rp e tu a tin g of life on the m orta l plane, b u t th e very opposite. W hy should we no t have im m orta l eyes, im m orta l teeth , im m orta l env ironm ent? “So w hen th is co rrup tib le shall have p u t on inco rrup tion , and th is m orta l shall have p u t on im m orta lity , th en shall be b rough t to pass th e saying th a t is w ritten , D eath is sw allow ed up in victory . O death , w here is th y stin g ? O grave, w here is th y v ic to ry? T he s tin g of dea th is sin ; and th e s tren g th of sin is th e law. B u t th a n k s be to God, w ho g ive th us th e v ictory , th ro u g h our L ord Je su s C h ris t.” T h is is good science. In fac t th e w hole of th e fifteen th chap te r of 1 C o rin th ian s reads like an ed ito ria l in C h r i s t i a n .

“ In recen t num ber of C h r i s t i a n you re fe r to th e p resen t age as th e e lec trica l age, and s ta te th a t those who a re successful in th e New T hough t w ill be able to d isa rm death , g radua lly passing from th e p resen t body in to an e lec trica l body. W ill you k ind ly sta te w hat is to be th e fa te of those who have a lready passed aw ay? A re th ey re su rrected in th e fo rm of an e lec trica l body to rem ain upon th is ea rth , o r do th e i r sp irits in h a b it an o th e r p lane? By answ ering th e above, you w ill g rea tly oblige.—N eophyte.”

Those who have gone “before” w ill be ra ised from th e dead, th a t is, th ey w ill m anife s t in th e objective and show us th a t they a re n o t dead. The e lec trica l body is n o t a d ir t body, b u t i t is a su b s tan tia l body like un to a physical body. In s tead of blood flowing th ro u g h the veins, e lec tric ity w ill flow th ro u g h th e sam e veins. Je su s showed h im self to h is discip les fo r fo r ty days betw een h is resu rrec tio n and h is ascension. H is physical body, the one in w hich he w as c ru cified, th e body th a t w as bu ried in th e tom b of Joseph of A rim athea , had been changed in to an e lec trica l body h av in g th e form , lik e ness, and m any of the ch a rac te ris tic s of the physical body. T h is body w as n o t sub jec t to th e law of g rav ita tio n and y e t he a te broiled fish and honeycom b and asked h is discip les to hand le h im and see th a t he w as n o t an apparition , b u t had flesh and bones. I t is said th a t “flesh and blood can n o t in h e r it th e K ingdom of God,” b u t i t d id n o t say any th in g abou t flesh and bones. In th e H ebrew S crip tu res th e blood had a m yste rious m eaning. “The life is in th e blood.” I hav en ’t space to en te r in to an e labora te d iscussion of th e blood in connection w ith O ccult tru th . Suffice i t to say th a t in those who a re “tr a n s form ed by th e renew ing of the m ind ,” the blood w ill be g rad u a lly changed in to electr ic ity . W hen you e lim ina te blood from th e physica l body and supply th e place w ith e lec tric ity you w ill have an im m orta l body. In th e m o rta l m an th e life is n o t only in th e blood, b u t th e dea th is in th e blood. “T h is is he th a t cam e by w a te r and blood, even Je su s C h ris t; no t by w ater only, b u t by w a te r and blood. A nd i t is th e S p ir it th a t bea re th w itness, because th e S p ir it is tru th . F o r th e re a re th re e th a t b ea r record in heaven, th e F a th e r , th e W ord, and th e Holy S p ir it ; and these th ree a re One. “IN THE DAYS OF T H E SE KINGS.”

“A nd in th e days of th ese k in g s sh a ll th e God of heaven se t up a k ingdom , w hich sha ll n ev e r be d estroyed : an d th e k ingdom sh a ll n o t be le f t to o th e r people, b u t i t sha ll b reak in p ieces an d consum e a ll th ese k in g dom s, an d i t sh a ll s tan d fo rever.

T he above w ords a re found in th e second ch ap te r o f D aniel. I t w ill do you good to read th e w hole ch ap te r before you read th is a rtic le . I t is p rophecy an d p a r t of th e prophecy h a s been fu lfilled . P a r t of i t is bein g fu lfilled , and a ll of i t w ill be filled fu ll. In th e days o f th e k in g s spoken of by D aniel, th e God of heaven se t up a k ingdom . Je su s C h ris t w as th e K in g of th a t k ingdom . H e d id n o t deny h is k in g sh ip , b u t sa id em p h a tica lly th a t h is k ingdom w as n o t of th is w orld . P ila te w ro te an in sc rip tio n fo r th e cross of C h ris t w h ich read : “JE S U S OF N A ZA R ETH , T H E K ING OF T H E JE W S .” T h is in sc rip tio n w as w r itte n in th e lan g u ag e of th e Jew s, R om ans, and G reeks. I t w as p rophe tic . T he p hysica l C h ris t w ho w as crucified on th e C ross w as th e K ing of th e Jew s. T he m entfil C h ris t w as to becom e th e K ing of th e L a tin s an d th e G reeks. So th e firs t p a r t of D an ie l’s p rophecy w as fu lfilled in th e b ir th , life , an d crucifix ion of Jesus. In th e days of these k ings , th e God of heaven se t up a k ingdom . T he king, w hile on th e ea rth , chose h is tw elve d isc ip les who w ere to re ign over th e tw elve tr ib e s of Is rae l. The tw elve tr ib e s of Is ra e l re p re se n t th e w hole e a r th and i ts in h a b ita n ts . H e estab lished h is k ingdom in th e T ru th an d n a s w atched th e dow nfall of a ll th e k ingdom s th a t w orsh ip th e devil. H e no t only estab lished h is k ingdom w hile he w as h e re on th e e a rth , b u t he gave com m andm en t to h is ap o stles and sen t them fo r th in to a ll th e e a r th to conquer it . In fo r ty days a f te r h is crucifix ion, h is k ingdom w as firm ly estab lished on th e e a rth . I t w as th e k ingdom of th e God of heaven . H e d id n o t appo in t anyone a s h is successor, because in th e very n a tu re of th e case, he could n o t have a successor. H e descended from heaven by th e H oly S p ir it , an d took possession of h is own kingdom . Je su s C h ris t h a s nev er had any vice-geren t on th e ea rth . A v ice-gerent is one: “H av ing o r exerc ising delegated pow er; a c tin g by su b s titu tio n , o r in th e p lace of an o th e r .” T he id ea of a v ice-geren t cam e from th e p ag an s and n o t from th e S p irit.

In th e very n a tu re of th e case, th e re could n o t be a su b s titu te fo r Je su s C h ris t. H e said to h is d isc ip les: “ I w ill n o t leave you comfo rtless . In th e t r u e k ingdom of God, Je su s C h ris t re ig n s in each one d irec tly w ith o u t an y su b s titu te o r v ice-geren t. You can ’t send Je su s C h ris t aw ay fro m h is k ingdom . You m u s t f irs t c ry out, “T he K in g is d e a d !” befo re you can say, “L ong live th e k in g !” A fte r th e ascension of Je su s C h ris t he ap p ea red to J o h n on th e Is le o f P a tm os, an d sa id : “ I am he th a t liv e th , an d w as dead ; and , behold , I am a live fo reverm ore , A m en; an d h ave th e keys of h e ll an d of d e a th .” T h is se ttle s it. T he k in g of th e k ingdom w hich th e God of heaven se t up is a live fo reverm ore . H e can n ev er have a successor. I t is th e sam e p rin c ip le w h ich caused m e to say th a t th e M other of C h ris tian Science could n o t have a successor. You can w rite a book an d th e n go to th e dev il and le t y o u r fo llow ers q u a rre l over i t a f te r you a re gone. T he old D ragon delig h ts in sects. H e s ta n d s a s th e sym bol of d iv e rs ity , d iso rd e r, confusion . W hile a l i t tle sec t h a s grow n up a ro u n d C h ris tia n Science, i t is n o t C h ris tia n Science. A s I have said , th e “C hurch of C h ris t, S c ien tis t,” is a sec t in re lig ion . Som e of th e m em bers of th is sec t a re C h ris tia n S c ien tis ts an d som e a re no t. T h ere fore, she can n o t have a successor.

T h ere is no doubt b u t w h a t th e firs t p a r t of D an ie l’s prophecy, as quoted, h a s been fu lfilled. In th e days of these k in g s , th e God of heaven d id se t up a k ingdom . T he n ex t s ta tem en t is : “ W hich sh a ll never be de

I t is said by D an ie l, in sp eak in g of th is kingdom : “It sh a ll b re a k in p ieces an d consum e a ll these k ingdom s, an d i t sh a ll s tan d fo rever.” There is n o th in g to h in d e r i t from s tan d in g forever. C H R I S T I A N 5or a rm ed m en? How is i t th a t k in g s and em pero rs w ho go to w a r tak e th e o a th of a lleg iance to Je su s C h ris t? Because he got in side of th ese objective k ingdom s and is u sing th em fo r th e un fo ld in g of th e T ru th . The ou ts ide of th ese k ingdom s is of the ea rth , ea rth y , and th e in side w o rk ing force is th e S p ir it o f T ru th .

“A nd th e seven th angel sounded ; and th ere w ere g re a t voices in heaven, saying, The k ingdom s of th is w orld a re become th e k ingdoms of o u r L ord , and of h is C h ris t; and he shall re ig n fo rev e r and ever.”

T h is is a ll th a t needs to be done. As soon as th e S even th A ngel sounds h is tru m p e t and th e voices in heaven begin to speak the W ord, th e k ingdom s of th e w orld w ill become the k ingdom s of th e L ord C hris t. E v ery th ing is ready . T he k in g s of th e k ingdom s of the e a r th have a lre a d y ta k e n th e oath of a llegiance to Je su s C hris t. E very so ld ier and every sa ilo r in th e w orld-pow ers h as taken the o a th o f a lleg iance to th is K ing of the Jew s. A ll th e p reach e rs and th e p riests , Sunday-school teach e rs , ch u rch officers, and church m em bers have tak en solem n vows of a lleg iance to th e L ord C hris t. T hey can’t go back on th e i r own p ro fessions or th e ir own oaths. I t does n o t m ake an y difference w h eth er i t is in a nom inal w ay o r some o th er way, Je su s C h ris t is L ord of all! You see, the S p ir it of T ru th h a s sim ply slipped up on the blind side of h u m an ity and cau g h t them napping. I t m ay be w ith some of them like i t w as w ith th e old negro who prayed fo r G abriel to blow h is tru m p e t. A no ther negro who had ta k e n refuge in th e a tt ic of th e old church blew h is fox -hun ting horn . The pious negro, th in k in g i t w as G abriel, exclaim ed: “Lord am assy , I d id n ’t m ean it! I w as jes jo k in ’! S u re a s you’re born , Lord, Ise jes jo k in ’!” T hese em perors, k ings, and ru le rs of th e e a r th m ay n o t m ean w h a t they say w hen they ta k e th e oath , b u t w hen the Lord C hris t appears , i t w ill n o t be any joke.

H ow ever, I th in k th a t th e people m ean m ore th a n th e y say, fo r a ll th a t is lack ing is th e proof—th e positive proof—th a t Jesus C h ris t is a re a l person . T he ideal has been accepted and th e h e a r t filled w ith hope. The real w ill be accepted ju s t as ea rnes tly anu tru ly w hen he appears . I t w ill n o t be like i t w as w hen Je su s cam e to th e Jew s. T he m inds of th e people of th e w orld have been prepared fo r th e com ing of th e kingdom of T ru th . W hen you come to th in k about it, the only th in g th a t is necessary is to produce the signs. W hen a p ro p h e t a r ise s who can heal the sick, cleanse th e lepers, cast ou t devils, and ra ise th e dead, th e w orld w ill accept w ith a shou t of ha lle lu jah . T h is proof is rig h t here a t hand . I t h a s been m ade possible by the com ing of C h ris tian Science. L et the w orld sneer an d c ritic ize C h ris tian Science all they w ish , b u t i t h a s p repared th e w ay for the in tro d u c tio n of th e E lec trica l Age. The m ind had to becom e used to th in k in g of t r u th in th e ab s trac t. The th o u g h ts of m en have been g rop ing a long in d ir t. They have th o u g h t th a t m a tte r w as th e sub s tan tia l p a rt of creation . W hen C h ris tian Science came, denying th e ex istence of m a tte r , i t called a halt. Men stopped to th in k . C h ris tian Science does n o t deny th a t m a tte r is, b u t i t denies th a t m a tte r h a s any rea l o r substan tia l

or perm anen t existence. In o th er w ords, m atte r does n o t ex is t a s a princip le of being. M atter is h ere a s a form of being. B ut S p ir it can change or u te r ly destroy any form of being. F ire , w hich is an o th e r nam e for Sp irit, can consum e the m ost su bstan tia l form s of m a tte r . In th e g rea t Chicago fire, iron and steel w ere consumed as if th ey had been stubble. F ire could consum e every p a rticle of m a tte r in th e ea rth and n o t leave a trace of i t anyw here in the atm osphere. T h is is w hat C h ris tian Science m eans w hen i t den ies th e existence of m atte r . Of course, th e re have been some foolish in te rp re ta tio n s of th is p rinc ip le ; bu t, nevertheless, th e p rincip le stands as th e t r u th of God. So m en have come to th in k about God as a consum ing fire. The only th in g th a t C h ris tian Science h as to do a t the p resen t tim e is to produce th e signs w hich follow th e tru e d iscip les of Jesus C hrist. I t w ill no t do fo r u s to be contented w ith m en ta l healing. I t w ill no t do fo r u s to stop w here we find ourselves a t the p resen t tim e. C h ris tian Science m ust go fo rw ard or backw ard. I t can ’t s tand s tm .

“IT IS I, BE NOT AFRAID.”

You ough t to see th e questions th a t come up in reference to m y prophecies. A in’t you a fra id ? W hat does Mrs. W ilm ans th in k abou t it? Does Mrs. Eddy know an y th in g abou t it? A in ’t you a fra id th a t one of them m ay die? D on’t you rea lly th in k th a t they w ill bo th die? W hy d idn ’t you w a it u n til th ey w ere changed in to e lec trical beings before you m ade th e prophecy? B less your hea rts , I did no t m ake th e prophecies! I t w as m ade in me and had to be spoken out. I w as ju s t as m uch compelled to speak w hat I heard as th e N iag a ra R iv e r is compelled to flow over th e Falls. Yes, i t is a g rea te r com pulsion th an th e flowing of th a t river, fo r you m igh t dam th e river, b u t you can ’t dam a prophet. You m ay dam n a prophet, bu t even th a t w ill no t stop h is m outh. People th in k I am m aking guesses o r ju s t ta lk ing to h ea r m yself ta lk . D on’t you rem em ber th a t in May, 1900, I to ld you all about seeing th e face of m y w ife in a v ision and gave h e r nam e and h is to ry? W e w ere no t m arried u n til th e follow ing Ju n e and i t looked like foolishness to proclaim the whole th in g in May C h r i s t i a n . B ut I could no t help myself. I w alked the floor and storm ed and raved and tr ied to get out of it. The only w ay I could find peace was to d ic ta te th e w ords to H elen and le t her p u t i t in to cold type. Then, a f te r i t appeared in the paper, I w anted to th row the whole edition away. I t w as prophecy and i t cam e to pass in sp ite of a ll appearances.I w ent th rough th e sam e strugg le w ith June C h r i s t i a n of th is year. I w as m ade to dicta te the prophecies concerning H elen W ilm ans and M ary B aker, and forced to take th e copy to th e p rin te rs . I t is prophecy and th e re is no pow er on e a rth or in hell th a t can keep i t from being fulfilled. There is no k ind of accident, no k ind of a disease, no th ing on th is e a r th th a t can keep H elen W ilm ans and M ary B aker from living here u n til they a re im m orta l beings. They w ill change in to electrical beings

r ig h t u nder m y own vision. In fact, my W ord in th e Silence w ill be th e m eans used fo r th e ir tran sfo rm ation .

I don’t care w h a t they th in k about it. I t is none of th e ir business, except a s th ey a re w illing to be w h a t God w ills them to be. I did n o t m ake th e ir selection from am ong th e women of th e w orld. I did n o t select myself. T here is only one W ill in th is U niverse. T here is only one W ord in th e U niverse. If th e un iverse w as governed by a d iversity of w ills and w ords, i t w ould be a hell of a place. I am n o t say ing “hell,” now, in th e sense of sw earing, b u t u sing th e w ord scientifically. H ell m eans a div ers ity of w ills and w ords. In hell th e re is confusion of tongues, con trad ic tion of w ills, and th e ja rg o n of w ords. T he u n iverse is a u n ity and n o t a d iversity . H elen W ilm ans has s ta ted th e t r u th w hen she says i t is a uni-verse, and no t a di-verse. How can i t be a un iverse un less God is One? God is One and y e t God is m any. H e is m any as an ind iv idual, b u t he is only One in H is W ill, H is W ord, H is M ind, and H is Being. The only w ay we can come to u n ders tand th e u n ity of h u m an ity is by becom ing conscious of th e u n ity of d iv in ity . The one follows th e o ther.

You m u st first w alk by fa ith before you can w alk by sigh t. I t is n o t fa ith in a w ritten w ord, fa ith in a book, fa ith in an in s titu tio n , b u t fa ith in th e s till, sm all voice w ith in you r own soul. I have had to w alk th ro u g h some p re tty d a rk p laces w ith no o ther guide th a n m y fa ith in th e Silen t W ord. T ennyson has expressed my fa ith in these beau tifu l lines:“S trong Son of God! Im m orta l Love!

W hom we th a t have no t seen th y face,By fa ith , and fa ith alone, em brace,

B elieving w here we can n o t prove.“T h ine a re these orbs of lig h t and shade;

Thou m adest life in m an and b ru te ;T hou m adest D eath ; and lo! th y foot

Is on th e sku ll w hich thou h a s t m ade.”The beau ty of th e w hole th in g is th a t th e

S p ir it is th e fa ith and th e W ord of th e fa ith . In o th e r w ords, th e S p ir it h a s fa ith in h is own W ord and th is is w h a t su s ta in s you. Of course, we don’t ascribe fa ith to th e S p irit, b u t the pow er w hich speaks the W ord is th e fa ith in th e W ord spoken, for fa ith is n o t th e belief of testim ony, b u t sp ir itu a l consciousness. “F a ith is th e substance of th in g s hoped for.” You see there is a v a s t difference betw een fa ith being a substance w ith in you and a m ere belief in objective w ords. I ce rta in ly have been rew arded. I w alked by fa ith ou t of poverty in to p len ty ; ou t of darkness in to lig h t; ou t of w eakness in to pow er. So fa r th e S p ir it h as fulfilled every prom ise m ade to me in th e Silence. I have love, life , liberty , and happiness. All these th in g s w ere foretold to m e before th ey w ere fulfilled. I have passed th ro u g h th e tu rm o il and now calm ly and serenely aw a it th e fu lfilling of m y W ord th e sam e as I w ould w a it fo r a m eal ordered a t a re s tau ran t.

C H R I S T I A N 7seeds— m ay be called an “ Im m acu la te Concep tion” in th e V egetable K ingdom . By “ Im m acu la te C onception” we sim ply m ean th a t C onception in evolution w here th e m ale is absen t, th e S p ir itu a l G erm being th e fecunda ting P rincip le .

If th e b ir th of Jesus, B uddha or any of th e C hris ts , w as o u t of th e u sua l o rder by an “ Im m acu la te C onception,” i t could no t have occurred co n tra ry to Law, b u t according to L aw , th o u g h th a t Law be n o t u nderstood. T h is U n iversa l Law of E xpression by Im m acu la te Conception is very im p o rta n t to th e scientific m ind ; because affo rd ing a basis fo r accep ting th e doctrine of R egenera tion , as a p rac tica l experience, the evo lu tion of th e C h ris t Consciousness by n a tu ra l law , and n o t w ith o u t law.

We a re n o t w ith o u t proof of th e operation of th is law r ig h t before our very eyes, on every hand . These denuded a reas a re now covered w ith a “second g ro w th ” of deciduous trees, maple, b irch , cherry , h icko ry , etc.

A fte r these fires, and a f te r th e w in te r snows have dissolved in th e ray s of the w arm sp rin g sun, th is w hole v a s t expanse becomes an em pty, recep tive womb, w aiting for th e brooding , adap ted S p ir itu a l Germ of th e adap ted p lan t, w hich is speedily born in to v is ib le expression.

To M ary th is Law of S p ir itu a l Conception w as revealed in ju s t th e te rm s necessary to a New B ir th in e ith er k ingdom . “The H oly G host sha ll com e upon thee, and the power o f th e H ig h est shall overshadow th ee ; and th a t ho ly th ing , th a t shall be born o f thee, shall be called the SO N of G OD ”

T hus th e hu m an h e a rt, m ade em pty by repentance, becom es a receptive womb for

th e Im m aculate Conception of th e D ivine Idea, or C hrist-G erm , alw ays seeking its adapted womb from the ever brooding S p irit. “E xcep t th e C hris t be born in you, ye a re none of h is.”

“Though C h ris t a thousand tim es in B ethlehem be born,

I f hfe’s n o t born in thee, th y soul is all fo rlo rn ,”

Said the m ystic Monk of the seventeenth century .

L ike th e Logos-plant Germ th e Logos- C hrist G erm is alw ays present, though unrecognized, ready fo r conception, w henever the heart-w om b is p repared, em pty and receptive to it.

T hus th e re is One Law un iversa l for Evolu tion , fo r p lan t life, fo r an im al life and for the C hris t L ife; since they a re a ll the evolution of th e One Life, m an ifesting on d ifferent p lanes of expression and Consciousness—“One God, One Law, One E lem ent, and One far-off D ivine E vent, tow ard w hich the whole C reation moves.”

I t is now clear why the New B irth by an Im m aculate Conception is a necesity of the C h ris tian Life. I ts Law of expression and m an ifesta tion is according to th e unchanging Law of th e U niverse. F o r th e New B irth is th e evolution of th e Christ-Con- sciousness from the womb of th e hum an Consciousness. In evolution a h ig h er type is born from th e m a trix of a low er type.

If, now, we have discovered th e G reat Law w hereby th e C hris t is born w ith in , w hy m ay we no t deliberately go to w ork w ith h igh asp ira tion , and by stud iously conform ing to th e S p ir it’s Law have th is w onderful experience of passing a Great E vo lu tionary Boundary, in ou r m arch from th e an im al to th e S p iritu a l, from th e hum an to th e D ivine—aw akening to the Consciousness, th a t we a re indeed SONS of GOD.

We w ill now ou tline th e n a tu ra l process of th o u g h t action, w hereby th e D ivine Idea, th e E te rn a l Logos, th e L iv ing T ru th —the C H R IST—shall be conceived in th e em pty, desiring , receptive m a trix of th e heart, and be b rough t fo rth as a new and higher Consciousness—th e Consciousness of C hrist.

To th is end le t us p u t ourselves in to the a ttitu d e of passive receptiv ity , le ttin g go all selfish desire, e lim inating from th e m ind all ca rn a l thought, re jec ting th e carnal self. T hen le t us hunger and th i r s t fo r D ivine th in g s; le t us yearn fo r the rea liza tion of th e K ingdom of H eaven. We w ill follow a line of S p iritu a l reasoning, w hich w ill give us th e th o u g h t action necessary to th is realization .
