This document describes the provisions regarding the placement policy of theuniversity. The policy is applicable only to the students who are graduating inyear 2013 and shall have opted for placement assistance from the university.

I. ApplicabilityThis policy is applicable only to the students of batches passing-out in 2013 who
shall opt for Placement Assistance from the university and commit to abide bythe requirements thereof.
II. Salient Features of the PolicyThe following are the salient features of the universitys Placement Policy:
As per current recruitment trends, the recruitment activity starts early in
pre-final semester. Thus, the students passing out in 2013 are required to
gear up for being a part of placement related activities immediately at this
stage.
1. In order to provide effective inputs to the students and groom their skills
for placements, the university shall host several interventions for the
students. The students passing out in 2013 seeking placement assistance
from the university will have to attend special inputs/sessions including
few sessions in vacations (summer and winter vacations) as well and take
certain tests to evaluate their skills time-to-time. The students are
required to ensure that they participate in all such interventions (even
those which are held during their vacations).
2. The input sessions and grooming sessions will be held under thenomenclature of Employability Enhancement Programme (EEP) and the
entire programme shall be divided into 5 stages referred to as cycles.
3. The attendance to these EEP sessions shall be mapped rigorously.
4. A series of tests shall be conducted during entire EEP that will count for
progressive performance analysis of students. It shall be mandatory for a
student to take these tests.
5. The university will bear the cost of Employability Enhancement
Programmes without passing on the cost to the students.
6. For all purposes, the UMS will be used for announcements/notifications.
Any announcement/notification made on UMS will be deemed to have
been served on the students. The University may also use Email/SMS at
times to convey information/interact with students/parents at its
discretion.
III. The Registration ProcessTo opt for placement assistance from university, a student has to register
himself/herself with Department of Placements (Division of Career Services, LPU)
online, through UMS latest by stipulated date (18-Feb-2012).

The following steps shall be followed to complete the registration process:
1. Login to UMS with your registration number and password.
2. Navigate to LPU Placement Portal through UMS Navigation Placement Placement Registration.
3. Click on the Registration option in the webpages top panel strip.
4. Fill in your Personal details, Contact details, Qualification details
andother details marked as mandatory in form.
5. Kindly ensure that the details entered in all fields are correct, particularly,
the:
a. Year of Passing-out (Passing Batch Year)
b. Programme (Currently Pursuing)
c. Contact Information (Mobile No. and Email ID)
6. Before submitting the form, student must carefully read Placement
Policy to understand expectations of university from students and
universitys offerings to students in name of Placement Services.
a. To accept the provisions, the student must click on provided check
box.
7. Click Submit to register.
Upon successful registration online, the student shall receive an e-Mail/SMS
stating his unique Placement ID.
In case this confirmation e-Mail/SMS along with Placement ID is not
received by the student, he/she must personally contact the Department
of Placements.
The registration process is not yet complete. In order to complete the
process, student must deposit the Placement Registration fee in accounts by
stipulated date (28-Feb-2012).
8. After successful online registration, student must deposit a sum of Rs.
3,500 (which includes Rs. 2,000 as refundable security charges for the
EEP and Rs. 1,500 as non-refundable fee for the Benchmarking and
Diagnostic Tests) in accounts latest by 28-Feb-2012.
Note:
The students must retain their contact information (esp. Mobile No. and
E-Mail ID) submitted during Placement Registration so that they do not
miss out any important communications from the university or theprospective employers subsequently. They shall check their SMS and e-

Mail inbox for any new messages at least once a day, esp. during
placement drives and related interventions.
It is more evident that during trainings/vacations, the students may switch
to some alternate contact numbers and may miss-out important
communication regarding placements. It is advised that students shall notdiscontinue with their registered contact numbers and e-Mail IDs during
and after Placement session i.e. at least up to December 2013.
The university shall not be responsible for any such loss of communication
arising out of incorrect contact details provided during placement
registration or in cases as discussed above.
IV. The Employability Enhancement Programme
In order to facilitate active placement support to the eligible students registeredfor placement assistance from the university, the Centre of Employability
Enhancement Programme and the respective School-Departments, shall engage
several special training sessions and evaluation sessions for students under
name ofEmployability Enhancement Programme or EEP.
1. The EEP shall comprise of five cycles. The tentative schedule of EEP cycles
is outlined in Table 1.
2. A student moves from one cycle to the next upon satisfying the criteria of
successful completion of that cycle. Refer to Section VI for detail on
successful completion and cycle through cycle transition of a student.
3. It is mandatory for every student registered for placement services to
attend these EEP sessions and activities thereof.
4. The precise details of activities to be held and type of inputs to be
delivered during each cycle shall be announced subsequently.

V. The Diagnostic and Benchmarking TestsWith a view to map and profile every student who registers for placement
services, the university shall conduct a series of tests and evaluations in-house
or out-sourced to third parties.

1. The Diagnostic Test: This test is aimed at having a first-hand idea of the
strengths and weaknesses of the students with respect to skills on which
the recruiters test the students during selection process.
This test shall be conducted early on at end of Cycle I of the EEP.
2. The Benchmarking Tests: These are the industry standard test
conducted by representative bodies (third-party organizations) of different
industries. The scores of these tests are recognized by and used by the
recruiting companies during their recruitment processes (not just during
campus placements but also otherwise if candidates directly approach the
company)
These tests shall be conducted tentatively during Cycle III of the
EEP.
Based on the results and ranking of student in these tests, betterstudents shall be exposed to better companies as per criteria laid
down by respective companies during their selection process.
To name a few, tests like NACHTECH Test for IT/ITeS based
companies, AMCAT for multidisciplinary evaluation, or any other
such benchmarking tests can be organized for the respective
students.
It shall be mandatory for every student to take these tests
respective to their stream/discipline.
3. Other Departmental or Continuous Evaluations: Apart from the
diagnostic and benchmarking tests, every student is supposed to take
several tests/evaluations conducted during or after each cycle of EEP.
These evaluations/tests shall be used as one of the components
constituting criteria to determine promotion of student through next
cycle of EEP.
The fee of Rs. 1,500 is charged from students during the registration for
conducting benchmarking and diagnostic tests. This is non-refundable fee.However, if the actual expenditure incurred (per student) for conducting these
tests is below Rs. 1,500 then the excess shall be refunded back to students
subsequently. Alternatively, if the actual expenditure incurred (per student) for
conducting these test is above Rs. 1,500 then it shall be received from student or
adjusted from the security amount (Rs. 2,000) deposited by the student.
VI. Cycle through Cycle Transition of studentAs can be noted in Table 1, various cycles of EEP are mutually exclusive over
schedule. A student shall be allowed to move to next cycle if and only if he/she
successfully clears the current cycle.

1. Successful completion of a cycle: A student is said to successfully
complete/clear a cycle provided he/she satisfies each of the following
criteria.
a. Attendance: A student needs to secure a cumulative attendance
of 90% taking into consideration all types of activities conducted for
the student in respective (current) cycle. A relaxation of 10% in this
criteria is offered to student in terms of medical allowance, thereby,
requiring a student to secure at least 80% attendance in current
cycle so as to progress to next cycle.
b. Qualifying Score: A student has to score satisfactory grades
pertaining to various tests (and evaluations) conducted during or atend of current cycle. The tests may be conducted internally by LPU
or may be outsourced to third parties. The detailed criteria of cycle
wise qualifying score is stated in Table 2.
In the table:
Test-I score shall represent cumulative score of student in
tests/evaluations conducted during and/or at end of Cycle-I.
Test-II score shall represent cumulative score of student in
tests/evaluations conducted during and/or at end of Cycle-II.
Test-III score shall represent cumulative score of student in the
benchmarking tests/evaluations conducted during or at end of
Cycle-III.
Test-IV score shall represent cumulative score of student in
tests/evaluations conducted during and/or at end of Cycle-IV.
The bare minimum score for respective tests shall be announcedsubsequently.

c. Behavioural Norms: A student must conform to norms of
behaviour, dress code, attitude and ethics throughout the EEP (and
not just until the time he is placed) and afterwards.
d. Other Parameters: A student must conform to any other
parameters or conditions or such part of the policy which may be
notified and/or modified later.
2. The cycle through cycle transition: The following series of tables
(Tables 3 through 6) chart the cycle-through-cycle transition of a student
on the basis ofAttendance and Qualifying Score in tests/evaluationsconducted during/after respective cycles, provided that the student
fulfils of criteria mentioned in VIII.1.c and VIII.1.dabove.

3. Important note in context of Debarment and Re-registration:
a. A student may be debarred during any of the cycles (I through V) on
the grounds of violation of criteria as mentioned in VIII.1.c and
VIII.1.dabove.
b. If a preliminary or final status of a student for any given cycle is
declared to be DEBARRED, the student loses chances of re-
registration. Such students cannot even participate in any of the
subsequent placement-related activities and recruitment drives.
c. If preliminary status of a student allows him/her to re-register with
some fee, then student shall not be allowed to participate in any
placement-activities or drives until he re-registers.
If a student does not re-register for next cycle within
stipulated time frame (as notified through UMS), it shall be
assumed that student is no longer interested to seek
placement assistance from the university and shall be
permanently debarred.
d. In order to re-register for next cycle (as applicable), the student
shall submit the following by the dates announced through UMS:
Deposit the requisite fee (Rs. 1,000 or Rs. 2,000) in accounts
and furnish a copy of the receipt of same to the Department
of Placements.
Submit an undertaking signed by his parent. The format of
undertaking shall be provided later.
e. The amount submitted as fee for re-registration is NOT refundable.
f. The security amount submitted during initial registration shall be
refunded only to those students, who successfully clear the Cycle-V
(irrespective of whether they had to re-register after any cycle or
not).
VII. Disciplinary Code for studentsThis will be announced at appropriate time later in pre final semester.

VIII. Code of Job OffersThe policy for job offers and instructions regarding actual placement process
and/or any modification/deletion/change/addition etc. in the policy will be
notified later at appropriate time aligned with other critical timelines.
IX. Exceptions to the Policy
Following are some exceptions to the above-mentioned provisions in this policy:
1. Attendance in EEP Cycles during Trainings:
Any student who is on training (as approved by the university) during any
of the attendance cycles will be required to attend mandatory sessions
immediately after his return or if called by the university earlier on
curtailment of training or after viva etc. He/she would, however, berequired to take part in all such interventions/tests which are made
available to students online or on UMS.
2. Attendance in EEP during Examinations:
In so far as possible, no EEP session would be organized during regular
exams. However, in case some EEP session and a backlog/reappear exam
date clashes, then exemption from EEP session will be given on specific
request in advance.
3. Exemption from EEP during Recruitment Drives:
Exemption from EEP sessions may also be considered in case sessions
clash with any recruitment drive facilitated by the university.
4. EEP sessions for non-registered students:
The University recognizes the fact that there may be few students who are
not interested in placements. Such students may also take part in EEP
sessions by registering in the same way. However, they will be required to
pay Rs. 2,000 per cycle in order to avail these sessions which are
otherwise free for students registered for placement assistance from
university.
5. Duty Leaves for Off-campus drives:

The duty leaves for participating in any off-campus placement drives that
are facilitated/represented/recognized by LPU shall be given to students.
The duty leaves may not be granted to students for participating in other
off-campus placement drives or job fairs not recognized/recommended by
LPU.
6. Re-entry of a debarred student into EEP:
A student debarred from placement assistance from university on the
basis ofnot fulfilling Qualifying Score criteria after Cycle III (i.e. not
achieving stipulated score in benchmark test) may be given an option to
retake the test for improvement. If the student fulfils the qualifying score
criteria in improvement test, he/she shall be eligible to re-register for EEP.
X. Summary of Financial obligations
As can be observed from Table 7 below, the university is likely to spend about
more than Rs. 10,000 per student in enhancing their employability. Other thandiagnostic and benchmarking tests costing Rs. 1,500 no cost has been passed on
to the students.
The element of recovery/forfeiture has been included to ensure element of
seriousness and for the sake of constructive participation.
