Global Green Nanotechnology Conclave 2015 will explore the possibilities of Indian industry to take part in the Research, innovation, and nanotechnology product development. The conclave will provide the Business Opportunities, create awareness and build business linkages among MSME’s & large industries, institutions, universities, government and other regulatory bodies, suppliers of the raw materials, processing and characterization instruments and machinery in developing the technologies at commercial level to enhance the penetration of nanotechnology in India. Green nanotechnology involves an approach to risk mitigation in an emerging and important set of industries. It involves three complementary goals: (a) encouraging replacement of existing products with new nanoproducts that are more environmentally friendly throughout their life cycles, (b) minimizing potential environmental and human health risks associated with the manufacture and use of nanotechnology products and (c) advancing the development of clean nanotechnologies. These approaches not only offer environmental benefits (e.g., reducing fuel use and emissions and cleaning up pollution) but also will help give us greater security (e.g., offering more self-reliability) and help us address public health crises (e.g., alleviating disease and poverty and helping equalize access to clean water), among other benefits. This critically important approach of nanotechnology needs further attention and integration into manufacturing processes, educational curricula and policy efforts. The Indian government needs a strategy for encouraging and stimulating green nanotechnology.

Plenary Session 2: Nanotechnology applications in healthcare (1400 – 1530 hrs)
Nanomedicine, the application of nanotechnology to human healthcare, offers numerous potential pathways to improving medical diagnosis and therapy and even to regenerate tissues and organs. It can provide personalized yet more affordable healthcare while at the same time offering an improved quality of life for everyone. Nanomedicine is also a strategic issue for the competitive position of the healthcare industry worldwide. Diseases such as diabetes, cancer, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s pose a tremendous challenge to modern medicine which can be effectively managed by nanomedicines by developing targeted nanopharmaceuticals, nanodiagnostics, biomaterials for implants and regenerative medicine and the development of intelligent prostheses.

Plenary Session 5: The Pathway to commercialization of Nanomedicines: Pre-clinical, clinical, quality, scale-up, manufacturing and regulatory dossiers and approvals (1130 – 1300 hrs)
Nanomedicine is a global opportunity that will change the face of medicine and drug delivery in the next 20 years. In India, to date, research has been focused primarily on the science in academic institutions and less on the commercial application of nanomedicine because there are not enough partnerships between academic institutions and industrial units. As a result, there remain significant obstacles in bringing a nanomedicine product to market. Overcoming those obstacles will require a multidisciplinary approach and public-private partnerships to bring the technologies to commercialization. Commercialization of medicines is a long process and requires huge investments. The product development process needs to undergo through various stages e.g. pre-clinical, clinical, quality, scale-up, manufacturing and regulatory dossiers and approvals. This session will discuss the pathways for commercialization of nanomedicine science.
