2

WHAT IS THE KORAN? (a)

Islam believes:

the Koran is the perfect, eternal, universal, final word of Allah.

The Koran has not one error. [CSPI, p. ix (all)]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

3

COMPARING THE BIBLE & KORAN

Trying to compare the Bible with the Koran can be misleading & erroneous.

The Bible is “complete” within itself.

The Koran is incomplete, two other sources are required to know the basic practices and and beliefs of Islam. [SG (all)]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

4

THE SUNNAH

A compilation of Mohammed’s examples.

A crucial complement to the Koran.

Some Sunnah prevail over the Koran.e.g., the Koran refers to 3 daily prayers (24:58 and 11:116); the Sunnah sets 5. [SG (all)]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

5

THE HADITH

A brief account or news about something.

A hadith’s length can vary; from one sentence to a full page.

Islam’s Hadith is an account about what Muhammed did and said (the Sunnah).

Many collections of Hadith exist. [SG (all)]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

6

SIRA

The Sira: Muhammed’s biography.

The Sira provides the content and chronology of Muhammed’s life.

As such, it provides context and chronology for the Koran. [SG]

THE ISLAMIC TRILOGY (a)

The Islamic Trilogy is comprised of:

The Koran.

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

THE ISLAMIC TRILOGY (b)

The Trilogy specifies the foundation and totality of Islam.

All Islamic law, the Shariah, is based upon the Trilogy.

Every political and religious statement and action of Islam comes from the Trilogy. [CSPI, p. ix (all)]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

12

POLITICAL ISLAM (b)

Hell -- for sinners who deny Islam; primarily political.

“Political” hell is mentioned in the Koran 146 times.

“Moral-failing” hell is mentioned only nine times in the Koran.

Thus: The Koran is 94% political and 6% religious. [CSPI, p. 139 (all)]

SELECTED QUOTES (a)

“Westerners…..want to believe, against all evidence, that all religions are the same, that all religions condemn violence and promote tolerance and human brotherhood.” [CS, p. 54]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

38

SELECTED QUOTES (b)

“The stark and simple fact is, the fundamentalists hate Americans (and other Westerners) for who we are and, therefore, there is nothing we can do, no cognizable demands we could ever satisfy, short of stepping into a cultural gas chamber that would ever satisfy the essential demands of the Muslim fundamentalists.” [AD, p. 33]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

39

SELECTED QUOTES (c)

‘For Islam, “there is a canonically obligatory perpetual state of war” between Islamic civilization and non-Muslim societies, which must be fought by faithful Muslims “until the whole world either accepts the message of Islam or submits to those who bring it.’’’ [CS, p. 42]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

40

SELECTED QUOTES (d)

According to Islam:‘Islam is God’s plan for the world, every

inch of it, not only just the Islamic regions. Islam is for everyone, whether one wants it or not. It is the duty of every Moslem to help expand the borders of Islam until every being on this planet acknowledges that “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger.’’’ [CS, p. 49]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

41

SELECTED QUOTES (e.1)

Sayid Qutb, a radical 20th-century Islamic thinker and writer wrote:

‘This Christian idolatry of the Trinity and its notions of sin and redemption which make no sense at all; this Capitalism, predicated as it is on monopoly and interest-taking, money-grubbing, and exploitation;

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

42

SELECTED QUOTES (e.2)

this individualism which lacks any sense of solidarity and social responsibility other than that laid down by law; that crass and vacuous materialistic perception of life, that animal freedom which is called permissiveness, that slave market dubbed “women’s liberation.”’

[Qutb, in Selengut, p. 51]

[6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

43

MUSLIM POPULATION

44

AN OBSERVATION

It’s been said that most Muslims are peaceful and moderate; that only a few are radical.

How many radicals did it take to pull off the 9/11 tragedy? Nineteen.

Are we safe because there are large numbers of peaceful Muslims?

Is it important that we all “watch our backs?”
