A VIRTUAL EVENT
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The AtlantiCare Neurosciences Institute at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) invites you to the Tenth Annual Regional Neurosciences Conference and State of the Art Stroke Summit. The conference will discuss advances and new technologies in comprehensive stroke, neurological and neurosurgical care. Covering multiple specialty areas within the field of neurosciences, this two day virtual regional conference provides an elaborate learning experience on topics ranging from neuro-oncology, stroke neurology, traumatic brain injury, endovascular neurosurgery, legal components of stroke care, neurologic rehabilitation and neurological critical care. The summit is designed to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of healthcare providers engaged in the daily care of patients who suffer from stroke and stroke-related conditions. We will take a close look at diseases and neurological conditions and discuss latest neurosurgical interventions, to prevent a knowledge gap related to current information and technology.
TARGET AUDIENCEThis program is designed for physicians, nurses, allied health providers, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, case managers, radiology technologists and first responders. The goal is to improve the delivery of care in treating neurological and neurosurgical conditions including stroke and stroke related conditions and diseases.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this program participants should be able to:
• Explain recent updates in recommended treatment options for acute stroke and other neurologic conditions.
• Demonstrate increased knowledge of management of acute stroke and neurologic patients based on most recent guideline updates.
• Explain neuroplasticity and how it contributes to rehabilitation efforts for acute stroke and neurologic conditions.
• Explain FEES assessment and its usage benefit in Acute Stroke patients experiencing dysphagia.
• Demonstrate increased knowledge of cerebral revascularization therapies.
• Understand the benefits of pre-hospital LVO screening tools and their impact of patient outcomes.
• Explain the updates to acute management of patients with Traumatic Brain Injury.
• Explain the use of LSVT: BIG for Parkinson’s disease and its potential use in Stroke Rehabilitation.
• Identify the appropriate use of antithrombotic agents and anticoagulation in acute stroke patients.
• Identify the relationship between stroke and COVID-19.

STATEMENT OF NEEDStroke therapy is a complex and constantly changing field that incorporates providers from many different specialties. State of the art management of stroke patients requires an efficient and coordinated multi-disciplinary team, including but not limited to, EMS personnel, nurses, and physicians using the latest treatment algorithms. The team of experts involved in stroke care includes specialists from neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, emergency medicine, primary care and critical care medicine. As neuroscientists develop safer and more effective treatments for stroke patients, it is crucial that all practitioners who see patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke be updated on the latest advancements in the field.
