Played music after homework and on the weekends

Records cost $.45 and bought at record stores

Singing Commercials-cereal, detergent

Radio cut-off, static, radio went off early

FM was the best thing that ever happened ( African-American music)

TV EXPERIENCES

Living room- Ed Sullivan. Mickey Mouse later on

$25- small screen, colorless, knobs.- color see through paper

Needed an antenna for reception

Family would sit around and watch TV. Plenty of family time.

Cigarettes, cereal etc…

TV EXPERIENCES Cleaner back then than now

Nowadays television have shows that involve “inappropriate behavior”

She would rather us watch television shows that were on back in her day rather than nowadays

No choice in cable or satellite (parents choice)

MOVIESExciting movie experience. First movie- Elvis Presley

Love Me Tender, Lady and the Tramp, King Kong- amazing

Loved the movie Gone with the Wind

Parents did not let her watch any violence, killing, cursing or kissing

To Sir with Love- about a teacher dealing with social and racial problems and tried to turn students around-like freedom writers
