Born in North Carolina, but raised in West Virginia.
Harry Reid
• Assumed Majority Leader office from 2005 to present. Two year terms and is up for re-election in 2011.
• Was a member of the Nevada State Assembly and Lieutenant governor in 1970.

Mitch McConnell
• Re-elected this year as Minority Leader and is up for re-election in 2011. The term is two years. His second term as Minority Leader.
• Previously an attorney and a congressional aid.
• Was first elected to the senate in 1984.

Richard Durbin
• Re-elected as Assistant Majority Leader in 2009. This is his third term, and is up for another re-election in 2011. The term is two years.
• Previously member of the US House, and was an attorney.
