Step 1: The shipper/forwarder sends an export declaration through to Customs electronically to receive an ECN/EDN.

Step 2: The shipper/forwarder can either make a booking with the shipping line by phone or electronically.

Step 3: The shipping line sends a booking confirmation to the terminal and shipper/forwarder quoting a container number.

Step 4: The shipper/forwarder/transport company sends an electronic ERA to the terminal quoting the container numbersupplied in the Booking Confirmation. The ERA is therefore a pre-advice which the terminal checks against the Booking Confirmation supplied by the shipping line for discrepancies.

Step 5: The shipper/forwarder/transport company makes a vehicle booking electronically through to the terminal, again quoting the containernumber.This ties the vehicle booking to the ERA/Cargo details.

Step 6: A delivery confirmation is sent back to the shipper/forwarder/transportcompany from the terminal.
