ActiProt®isproducedasaby-productinthebioethanolplantattheAGRANAfactoryinPischelsdorf(LowerAustria),wheremostlygrains,maizeandsugarbeetsyrupcanbeprocessed.SinceJune2008,ActiProt®grainhasbeenproducedfromwheatandmaizeintheratioofabout50:50Eachstageoftheprocess,formdeliveryoftherawmaterialtooutputofthepelletedproteinfeed,issubjecttohighandextremelystrictquality-assurancemeasures:ISOcertificationtoDINENISO9001:2000andQScertificationhavejustbeensuccessfullycompletedattheAGRANAbioethanolplantinPischelsdorf.AsforallotherproductsthatAGRANAbringstomarket,theprimarypremiseoffreedomformGMtechnologyalsoappliestoActiProt®.ActiProt®canbeusedasa“notsubjecttolabelingrequirements”productaccordingtoregulation(EU)1830/2003and1829/2003forthenon–geneticallymodifiedproductionoffoodandfeed.
Dryingandpelletingthewetmashproducesatradableandstorableproductthatcanalsobetransportedovergreatdistances.Pelleteddrymash,whichisaproteinfeedlikesoyandrapecoursemeal,isafixedelementintherationofleadingEuropeanmixed-feedmanufacturesandfinishingplants.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ACTIPROT®?
Thehighproportionofundegradedproteinintherumen(45%)meansthatruminantscanuseasignificantpercentageoftherawproteinofthewheatandmaizemashinthesmallintestine.Themashfromtheproductionofbioethanolcanbeusedinruminantfeedtocovertherequirementforsupple-mentingtheprotein(Wiedner,2009).
Therawfatcontentishigherthanforsoyacoursemeal44andhasapositiveeffectontheenergybalanceoffeederanddairycattle.Highlevelsofphosphorusandsodiumplayanextremelypositiveroleinthestructureoffeedrationsduetothecurrentpricesituation.TheabsorptionofbasicfeedcanbeincreasedthroughtheuseofActiProt®.JustasdecisiveformanyfarmersisthatthecattleseemtolikethetasteofActiProt®.
