Al- Jumu’ah Chapter 62: Verse 10
‘O ye who believe! when the call is made for Prayer on Friday hasten to the
remembrance of Allah, and leave of all business. That is best for you, if you only
knew.’
Hadith – The Foundations of Islam
Abdullah bin Masud (ra) states that he asked the Holy Prophet (saw) which deed was
most pleasing to Allah The Exalted. The Holy Prophet (saw) replied:
‘”Offering the prayers at the appointed time.’I enquired,
‘And after this?’ He replied, ‘Being kind to parents.’
I asked, ‘Which deed after this?’
He answered, ‘Striving in the path of Allah.’”

Blessings of Prayer

“...Prayer, in essence, means a relationship of mutual attraction between a righteous
person and his Lord. This means that God’s grace first draws a person towards Himself,
and then, through the magnetism of the person’s sincerity, God draws closer to him. In
the state of prayer this relationship reaches a point where it manifests wonderful
qualities. When a man in grave difficulty falls down in prayer with perfect certainty,
perfect hope, perfect fidelity, and perfect resolve; and when he becomes perfectly
alert and advances far into the field of self-annihilation, tearing aside all veils of
heedlessness, lo and behold, he finds before him the Divine threshold, and he
perceives that God has no associate. His soul then prostrates itself at the Divine
threshold and the power of attraction that is invested in him draws the bounties of
God Almighty towards him. It is then that the Glorious God attends to the fulfillment of
the desired objective, and casts the effect of the prayer on all the preliminary means,
which, in turn, produce the means that are essential for the achievement of the

objective. For example, if the prayer is for rain and it is accepted, all the natural
means which are necessary for causing rain are created as a result of the prayer. If
the prayer is for famine, the All-Powerful One creates the opposite means. And this
is why the eminent recipients of revelation and men of perfection have proven with
their extraordinary experiences that the prayers of a perfect one are endowed with
a power of creation. That is to say, under Divine command, prayer influences the
lower and higher strata of the world and sways the elements, heavenly bodies, and
hearts of men towards the desired objective. There is no shortage of such examples
in Divine scriptures. In fact, some kinds of miracles are also the result of the
acceptance of prayer. Prayer is the source of the thousands of miracles shown by
Prophets as well as the marvels that have been displayed by the saints to this day.
And, more often than not, it is through prayers that the supernatural signs of Divine
Omnipotence are manifested.”

Friday Sermon
The Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer is one form of congregational worship in Islam. It
takes place every Friday. Regular attendance at the Jumu'ah prayer is enjoined
on the believer. According to a Saying of Muhammadsaw
this congregational
prayer is twenty-five times more blessed than worship performed alone.
We encourage members to read Huzurs Friday sermons which can be found at:
http://www.alislam.org/archives/
For your benefit we have published below, a gist of Huzurs Friday Sermon
delivered on 1st
January 2010.

NUR OF GOD
Summary
Huzur (aba) said with the grace of God the first day of 2010
is the blessed day of Friday, Huzur (aba) wished that this
year and each year to follow is blessed for every Ahmadi in
every way.
We welcome New year by livening our nights with worship
unlike non-believers who spend the first few hours of a New
Year in idle amusements, revelry and alcohol consumption.
One’s life is a constant endeavour towards spiritual
progress aiming to be granted God’s Nur.
Taqwa and perfect obedience of the Holy Prophet (pbuh)
earns one nur from God and one is rewarded with the good
of this world and the Hereafter.
May we practice taqwa in the true sense and be enabled to
attain a measure of the nur brought by the Holy Prophet

it all the more significant for a believer so that he/she can

Chapter 5,
Verse 16
. ء ٱ ر وـ !" There has come to you indeed from Allah a Light and a clear
Book
The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him)
taught us an excellent way to partake of this light with
reference to Friday.
A TRULY BLESSED DAY AND NUR OF GOD
‘Among the best of your days is Friday. On that day invoke
blessings and salutations (Durud) on me frequently, for your
Durud is presented to me on this day.’
The blessings of the most sincere invocation of Durud gave the Promised
Messiah (on whom be peace) the station of Messiah
The Promised Messiah ( on whom be peace) enjoined his followers to
invoke Durud on the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).
He said in turn they would then attain a measure of nur in accordance to
their [spiritual] capacities and this would put their lives in this world and the
Hereafter in order.
Huzur (aba)
explained
the Hadith
The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On that day
Adam was created, he was admitted to Paradise, and he was
expelled therefrom’.
The significance of Friday, entering or being expelled from
Paradise, are all dependent on deeds.
It is up to the children of Adam how they utilise Friday.
If they are drawn to virtue, to prayer and invoking Durud their
life on this earth can be paradisiacal and they have the glad-
tidings of Paradise in the Hereafter.
However, if are embroiled in bad deeds then they have the
tidings of Hell in this and the next world.
TWO
PARADISES
Chapter 55,
Verse 47
و ف م ر ۦ ن But for him who fears to stand before his Lord there are two
Gardens
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) elucidated that a
person who abandons sins out of earnest fear of God and His
reckoning is promised two Paradises.
Firstly, he is granted a heavenly life on this very earth, he
goes through a pure change in this world and God takes care
of all his needs and wants.
Secondly, he is granted eternal Paradise in the Hereafter for he
overcame and gave up sin of the self out of fear of God and gave
God precedence over everything.
Today God has given us an opportunity to adorn the very first day of the
year with prayers.
Pray for the environment, for the society and your country
Pray for Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam
Pray for yourself and for your family
Now, the permanence of the world and mankind is with the prayers of
an Ahmadi and it leads to Paradise.
Tadhkirah, p.
793
God revealed to the Promised Messiah (on whom be
peace),
‘He created Adam and bestowed honour upon him.
The champion of Allah in the mantles of the Prophets.
Good news for you, O My Ahmad.’
Tadhkirah pp.
793-794 -
Braheen
Ahmadiyyah
part V, p. 89
The meaning of the revelation: --; is that I have been
bestowed a portion of the special faculties or special
qualities of all the Prophets from Adam downwards. ---
This is what God has told me.’
Nur of God was given to the Promised Messiah ( on whom be peace)
because of
true love for the Holy Prophet (pbuh)
perfect subordination to the Holy Prophet (pbuh)
Huzur (aba) hoped that each Ahmadi has spent the New Year day
searching for Nur of God through

Chapter 57,
Verse 29
DEEDS AND
NUR OF GOD

O ye who believe! fear Allah and believe in His
Messenger; He will give you a double share of His
mercy, and will provide for you a light wherein you will
walk, and will grant you forgiveness — and verily Allah
is Most Forgiving, Merciful
One’s life is a constant endeavour towards spiritual
progress along with a need to rid the society of sin.
A New Year should be welcomed with repentance, with
serving God’s creation.
DEEDS AND
NUR OF GOD
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that
those who are steadfast and firm on taqwa and who
adopt a certain detachment from this world in their
love of God are given distinction from the rest.
They are granted a nur that permeates all their actions
and their faculties. Nur permeates their wisdom and
every action of theirs; their paths become of nur. In
short, they are encased in nur.
Taqwa and ignorance cannot coexist. Although
perception and insight and in turn taqwa can be of a
higher or lesser degree.

Huzur (aba) said that if an Ahmadi is firm on taqwa,
he/she will avoid ignorance.
Taqwa and perfect obedience of the Holy Prophet
(pbuh) makes one a beloved of God and earns one
double reward and nur from God. The double reward is
the good of this world and the good of the Hereafter.

How old is the house ? Gretchen and Henry were looking
to buy a house together, and finally
found one with a beautifully
landscaped yard, plenty of
bedrooms, and a beautiful tree out
front. They asked the owner how
old the house was, and this was his
reply:
"I planted that tree when the
house was built. It was 7 feet tall at
the time. It has grown 3 feet each
year, and at the end of this past full
year, it was four times its original
height."
"But how old is the house?" asked
Henry.
Gretchen said, "Don't be so dense.
He just told us."
So, how old is the house?

7 Chapter 6,
Verse 165
-- nor does any bearer of burden bear the burden of
another. --.
Each person is answerable for his/her actions. Good deeds
are a source of attaining good in this world and in the
Hereafter.
Chapter 2,
Verse 202

This prayer speaks of the believers who seek good in this
world and the Hereafter.
And of them there are some who say: ‘Our Lord, grant us
good in this world as well as good in the world to come, and
protect us from the torment of the Fire.’
GOOD IN THIS WORLD AS WELL AS GOOD IN THE WORLD TO
COME
This prayer prevents us from the hell of this world while
honouring the dues of God and the dues of mankind.
‘Our Lord, grant us good in this world as well as good in the world to come’
The words Rabbana (Our Lord) have a subtle indication towards repentance.
Man creates many a false rabb, such as one’s schemes, knowledge, physical
strength, beauty or property etc.
Unless one abandons all these and turns to the One God one cannot truly
appreciate the True Rabb
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that Taubah (repentance) is
not something that is superfluous or useless for man.
It can benefit man in this world as well as in the Hereafter.
Huzur (aba)
prayed
May God always grant us good in this world and in the
Hereafter and save us from the torment.
May He enable us to tread the paths of virtues.

us good.

CAMPING AT BAITUL HUDA MOSQUE & FRIENDLY
SOCCER MATCH
Report by Murad Khan, Muhtamim Khidmate Khalq, Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, Australia
As per our Calendar, we had our Khuddam and Atfal Camp on 19 December at the Baitul Huda
Mosque. I was lucky to organize a friendly game of Soccer and Tug of War on the day with my
Turkish Muslim friends. They were too kind to accept and 25 members of the Turkish Muslim
Community turned up.
The Turkish team won the soccer 3-2 while we won the Tug of War competition. Dinner was
served after the games. The President and another friend of mine from the Turkish Community
prayed Magrib with us before leaving. They seemed eager to return and also invited us to their
mosque for dinner.
Duties were allocated with Majlis Al Noor doing all the catering, Majlis Al Sadaqat organizing
accommodation, and Majlis Baitul Huda looking after drinks and First Aid during the games.
Atfal and Khuddam continued with their own programs after Maghrib & Isha prayers. We
watched a DVD on Ahmadiyyat in Australia. Members then had friendly table tennis matches.
We called it a day around 11pm with members sleeping in the upper hall of the mosque. We
began the next day with Tahajjud & Fajr prayers followed by a Question and Answer session
chaired by Br Imran Mirza Karim saheb.
We then had breakfast and played friendly Volleyball and cricket matches. The program
concluded around 8am with clean up. We thank Amir Sahib for his approval and his
