PROJECT RESEARCH
Healing is not the same as curing. The concept of healing is more about the process of harmonizing the mind, body, and spirit. It is about living in peace with yourself and your surroundings. People can be healed even if they are not cured.
DESIGN ISSUES:
Health Care costs are climbing and non-traditional alternatives are being considered as heathful op-tions. The diseases we face today are related to the environments we've designed. The current designs of our communities, buildings and lifestyles have creaed new health issues. Typically when people focus on personal well being they focus on either phyical or mental health; not the two in tadem.

Healing gardens can provide relief from psychological distress and create an improved sense of well being. They should "comfort the soul and re-new the spirit." Anti-depressive properties are associated with physical exercise. Positive effects associated with physical exercise can be further
influenced & enhanced with a balanced diet.

Our experiences of interior spaces can be influenced by our own interior environment. Every space we encounter can have an affect on our beliefs, attitudes, memories and well being. RAW will be a space that gives people opportunities to positively impact their mind, body and spirit.

DESIGN PHASE: Schematic Design TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Individual
COMPLETION: Fall 2015
INTRODUCTION:NEXT will be inspired by an ecosystem. Similar to a
co-working space, an ecosystem is a community that connects living things to their physical environment. No matter how big or small an organism is, it's existence is vital to the survival of the ecosystem as a whole. NEXT
understands that each type of worker is essential to innovation and creation. It will supply the appropriate
resources and spaces that both entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs need to cultivate.

growth and involvement within the city of St. Johns, MI. The facility will positively impact each leg of the triple
bottom line; profit, people and planet. A small plinth will invite local poets and musicians to share their talents.

LUMINAIRE pour me another collection 13BACKGROUND:
PROJECT: Robert Bruce Thompson Light Design CompetitionTECHNOLOGY: SketchUp,Shaderlight, Photoshop
TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Individual COMPLETION: Spring 2015
INTRODUCTION:POUR ME ANOTHER will be an energy efficient luminaire collection
designed for a wine bar and vineyard. The collection contains two surface mount fixtures; a pendant and sconce. This practical and func-
tional design solution integrates the fixture into the bar itself. These contemporary luminaires will draw particular attention to connections
between light, space, people and wine. Through simple lines and natu-ral forms, the Pour Me Another luminaire collection will be a signature
piece in any space.
DESIGN GOALS:
durable materials
multi- functional energyefficient
sustainability
OLED sheets will be used to illuminate the fixture and provide both ambient and task lighting. The pendant will function not only as a light, but as a palce to store wine to enhance function and efficiency of the space. Due to its ability to stay cool, OLED lighting will not disturb the taste or age of the wine. An aluminum frame will make the fix-ture lightweight yet durable and FSC certified wood will encourage sustainable harvesting and conservation of
natural resources.

MSU nisbet building renovation 15BACKGROUND:
PROJECT: Professional Experience DESIGN PHASE: Construction Bidding
TECHNOLOGY: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Shaderlight, Photoshop COMPLETION: Summer 2016
INTRODUCTION:NISBET BUILDING houses the Human Resources department at Michigan State University. Their current office is too small to meet
the clients needs and employees comfort. Multiple conference rooms, a kitchenette, printer and copier space as well as open
office layout will be included in this office design renovation.
INVOLVEMENT:AS AN INTERN, I was involved in this project from conception to construction. I created many of the construction documents, designed the kitchenette, selected equipment and aided in the selection of finishes. By attending client meetings I was able to
collaborate with the client to create a holistic design solution within the project budget.
