Dear American Gold Cup Friends and Partners,
The 2014 year was truly an exceptional year for the American Gold Cup. Throughout the year, ourprimary mission was to improve the exhibitor experience, promote and market to a wider range of spectators,as well as produce a top quality event that would raise the standards for FEI competitions in the USA. Onceagain the event was blessed with the finest fall weather and a gorgeous setting at Old Salem Farm.
Several new event elements were incorporated in 2014, but the planning process started by utilizingfeedback and making improvements. The 2013 NARG report suggested adding a Speed Derby to the inter-national division and it was added as the feature event the $34,000 Fidelity Investments Speed Derby onSaturday afternoon. NARG also suggested improving the food in the VIP hospitality tent. We worked withthe caterer for 2014 and received numerous positive reviews on the VIP experience this year.
Once again we focused on promoting the event and gaining the support and interest of the generalpublic through our strategic marketing partnership with Westchester County’s Office of Tourism. Togetherwe collaborated on aggressive public relations and advertising campaigns, which featured inclusion in theirtourism initiative “Meet Me in Westchester.” We were involved in multiple press conferences, obtained qual-ity media coverage and garnered mass exposure through various outlets.
Along the way, we listened to our corporate sponsors, riders, advisory board and media partners inan effort to meet the needs of each individual group participating. The input we received created a trulywell rounded event that was not only great for sponsors and fans, but also the owners, riders and horses.Building on 2013, the 2014 American Gold Cup once again set records with nearly 6,000 spectators onGrand Prix Sunday, record competition entries and vendors reported record sales.
Shortly after the event was over, we received the great news that the American Gold Cup will beawarded in 2015 a Longines FEI World Cup Qualifier. Only seven events on the east coast of North Americawere awarded this honor which will place even more importance on the event next year.
We are extremely proud of the 2014 American Gold Cup and the teamwork that went into forging afantastic future. All of this would not have possible without your support. The American Gold Cup CSI 4*-W Grand Prix aired in a one-and a half hour televised broadcast on the NBC SportsNetwork on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
Sponsors of the American Gold Cup were given the opportunityto be included in the broadcast via 30-second commercials, inprogram product placement, sponsor highlights and 5-secondstatic billboards with audio.
Carr-Hughes Production, the nation’s premier equestriansports production company, created a program that receiveda household rating of .05, which equates to approximately66,000 viewers (P02+).
Our expanded program of .05 rating beat the NBA Network(.02), ESPN News (.02), and FS1 (.03) in it’s new time slot.Additionally, ESPN SportsCenter, the WNBA Playoffs, andNFL Gameday only topped the American Gold Cup in themale 18 - 49 demographic. Overall these numbers provideda solid program for the network and the sport of equestrianshow jumping.
