5.1 Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media : Either allow fire to burn out under controlled conditions, orextinguish with alcohol type or all purpose type foam, or dry
chemical powder. Try to cover liquid spills with appropriatefoam. Use water spray to cool fire exposed surfaces. Avoid
spraying water directly into storage containers due to danger ofboilover. Shut off fuel to fire if possible to do so without hazard.
If a spill has not ignited, use water spray to disperse the vapours.
Unsuitable extinguishing media : Do not use high volume water jet.
5.2 Special hazards arising from : Flammable liquid; may release vapours that form flammable
the mixture mixtures when temperatures are at or above the flash point.
There is a danger of explosion when container is heated or in
fire. Toxic gases will form upon combustion. Vapour maymay accumulate in low or confined areas or travel to aconsiderable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.
Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches.
Hazardous combustion products : Smoke, fumes, oxides of carbon, irritating or toxic vapours or
gases.
5.3 Advice for fire-fighters
Protective equipment for : Respiratory and eye protection gear is required for fire
fire fighters fighting personnel. Full protective equipment (Bunker Gear)and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) should be
used for all indoor fires and any significant outdoor fires. Use
portable fire extinguisher for small outdoor fires. Use of SCBAmay not be required.
5.4 Additional information : Exposure to decomposition products may cause healthhazards. Cool containers exposed to fire with water spray.

11.2 Potential adverse health effects : Small amounts of this liquid may be drawn into the lungs byeither swallowing or vomiting. This may cause severe and
delayed health effects such as inflammation of the lungs (
pulmonary edema) and infection of the bronchi(broncho-
pneumonia). Ingestion may cause irritation to the digestivetract or diarrhea.
11.3 Potential chronic health effects : There is no evidence that exposure to 3-Butanone alonecauses progressive or irreversible neurotoxic effects.
However, simultaneous over-exposure to 3-Butanone and
n-Hexane can potentiate the known irreversible neurotoxiceffects of n-Hexane. There is no reported human evidence
that these neurotoxic effects occur when exposure to both
chemicals is maintained below established regulatory limits.
11.4 Other information : The mixture is not likely to be carcinogen in humans.
There is no ecological information available for this product. Ecotoxicological information on components of
this product is presented below.
