The aluminium/magnesiumalloy used has an elastic module of7100 Kg/ sq mm. This allows rn achine centering and balancing ofthe wheel witho ut prob lems. OMEGA rims for clinchertires come in two versions, normalbox-section or «v Prof ile». Theyare both made of the same heattreated Mg-Si aluminium alloy so
their stregth is equal but becauseno spoke eyele ts are used for themodel with «v Profi le», it is a fewgrams lighter. The HARDOX anodization which increases the superficial hardness of the rim andthe heat treatment which improves the mechan ical stre ngth ofthe material combine to giveOMEGA clincher tire rims un paralleled reliab ility.
LAMBDA rims for clinchertires, just like their OMEGAcounterparts, are designed in twoversions: with normal and «V Profile" and these new Campagnolorims use the same heat-treatedaluminium alloy normally foundin rims costing twice as much.Th is superior aluminium alloycomb ined with Carnpagnolo's

To satisfy the requests ofthe specialist as well as the mountain bikeenthusiast, Campagnolo has introduced a new line of rims specificallydivided into two types. These rims are the results ofextensive fie ld test ing with many of the top professional racers in mountain biking today:the rim names are Thorr and Contax.
Both of these rims have a very high degree of technical innovation,reliab ility and res is tance to ext reme con ditions. The use ofspecial alloyshas allowed Campagnolo to obtain an extremely light and durable rim.We have derived the shape of these rims after a long and accurate CA Dstudy. This style of rim will make braking more efficient and positive.
The use of traditional cantilevers as well as caliper brakes are possible with Thorr.

Contax has been designed for the most demanding competition.It's compact cross section design and light weight make it ideal fo r racingapplications.
This rim has a very high resistance to deformation. The un ique design of the sidewalls will provide the most efficient braking possible.Even in the worst conditions. In the eve nt ofa flat tire, especially in competition, th e tire may be easily changed without the use of tools.
This is a considerable advantage in a competition where no technical assistance is allowed and only a fewseconds may make the differencebetween winning and loosing.

ERGONOMICS OF THEGIIIBLI M23
GHIBLI M23 FLUID-DY·NAMIC wheels have been designed for highly specialized uses.
For this reason Campagnolohas designed two different models, one fo r track events and onefor road racing, because the professional requirements of thesetwo sectors are very dilTerent.
The road version of theGHIBLI M23 has a structure witha vertical elasticity almost equal tothat ofa spoked wh eel; and definitely offers greater elasticity thanany of the current disc wheelsavailable.
At the same time the transversal rigidity is equal to even thebest rims available for spokedwheels, ensuring safety with theFLUID-DYNAM IC GHIBLI M23wheel without any reduction ofcomfort. (Diagram 5).
These characteristics are essential in enabling the athlete togive the best possible performance, particularly in the timetrail eve nt.
In this type ofrace, any reduction of fatigue (due to «roadshock») can result in preciou stime gained over your competitor.
On the other hand, becausethe surface of a velodrome issmooth and events are short in duration comfort is not a factor. Furthermore, du ri ng track events theth rust of the athlete is directedonto the hubs in a sharper andmore concentrated manner thanin road races. What is really impor-
tant for a track disc is the effic iencyofthe hub and its ability of transforming as much energy as possible into acceleration and movement.
The track version of theGHIBLJ M23 is the refore very rigid, both vertically and transversely.
G HIBLI M23 "G YROSCOPIC'A PROFESSIONAL SYSTEM
Disc wheels are often usedfor highly specialist competiti onssuch as individual or team trackpursuit. 100 kilometre team timetrials, stayers, etc.
Experiments have shownthat in all team competitions themost crucial element is the difficulty encountered by the ri derwho leaves the leading posit ionwhe n he has to slip in behind thelast team member without losingthe advantage of being pulledalong fl uidodynamically.
During this move, wh icheach of the 4 team members repeats as many as 500 times in a 100kilometre competition, the athletehas to fee l th e front wheel in thehand lebars.
Experiments have shownthat if the front wheel is given anadequate gyroscopic understeering effect. this allows the athletegreater safety in achieving exactlythe right final position.
For this reason the patentedstructure of the GHIB LI M23« GYROSCOPIC» has been arranged in such a way that Campagnolo technicians can vary certainparameters that adapt the shoulder, the tilt, the weight and the gyroscopic effect of the fl uid-dynamic wheel to suit specifi c requirements. Our Research and Development Department is at your disposal to solve all kind s of prob lems in collaboration with theuser.
KHAMSINKHAMSIN F LUID·DYNA
:\UC wheels are made with a different structural principal than theGHIBLI M23. For this designCampagnolo's Research and Development department opted formodel with load bearing by compression . In other words, the wallsof the KHAMSIN wheel are rigida.oct act as support pillars for thenm.
The lightness of the KHAMSIN wheel is possible thanks to anexclusive material which reducesweight and improves the quality ofair flow. This is a super-light material with a honeycomb structure,bonded by means of polyme rization with resin-impregnated fibrefabrics. Air flow is also opt imizeddue to the computer design contour of the sidewall.
KHAMSIN rear wheels use aspecial hub that can be transforme d from road to track u se andvice versa simply by changing theaxle.
On one side of the rear wheelhub there is a thread for freewheels, while on the other sidethere is a thread on which thetrack cog with its inverse threadlocknut can be fitt ed . A cover forthe hub th read not in use is alsoprovided.
For those who are interestedin taking part in high-level competition, the KHAMSIN road modelis the ideal fl uid-dynamic wheelfor developing and emphasizing
the talents of a fast rider or a promising sprinter.
For th e Club rider or youngracer this is an especially nice feature because one wheel can meetthe demands of both road andtrack specialities.
KHAMSIN FLUID-DYNAM IC whee ls are shipped withhubs already adj usted the blocking mechanism, howe~er, shouldbe assembled before use.
Just like GHIBLl M23wheels, KHAMSIN FLUID-DYNAMIC wheels individually submitted to the stringent qualitytests outlined below.
SCIROCCO
The most recent patent forCampagnolo in the disc whee lfield is Scirocco. It is a front wheelspecifically designed to be usedeven in windy conditions thanksto the four openings on the wallsofthe disc. Campagnolo engineersha ve done extensive testing in developing the biconically shapedsides in order to take full advantage of the aerodynam ic principlesfo und in a winged shape.
This solution guarantees thatthe Scirocco disc will give the riderthe safest and easiest hand lingpossib le, while still maintaining aconsiderable aerodynamic advantage even in unexpected gusts ofwind.
THE BAGS
Both KHAMSIN, GHlBLlM23 and SCIROCCO fl uid-dynamic wheels can be easily transported in the special bags provided by Campagnclo. The bags aremade of scrathproof nylon, theyare wate rproof, washable, and arenot effected by changes in te mperature, thanks to the characteristics of the nylon.
The padding has been carefully chosen to ensure the bestprotection to weight ratio so thatthe wheels are protected against limited accidental knocks whentransported. The bags are available in two versions: single for onewheel or dou ble for pairs. Thesingle version has a rigid reinforcement in the middle to protectthe sidewalls against the pressureof the qu ick release. The doubleversion has an inner compartmentfor storage of the quick releases.
