Ansel Adams (1902-1984)
• Born in San Francisco,
• Early interest in music and the piano–Wanted to be concert pianist
• In 1916 he took his first photographs of the Yosemite Valley at age 14– Knew then wanted to be photographer
• founded Group f/64 –With several other California-based photographers,
notably Edward Weston and Imogen Cunningham
• “For Adams, the f/64 philosophy embodied an approach to perfect realization of photographic vision through technically flawless prints.”
