After so many years of creating expedition voyages to the Polar Regions, I’ve heard dozens of epithets describing our travelers’ experiences. If I was asked to choose just one word it would be – inspiring. “Awesome,” “fantastic” and “fun” are also true, but these expressions seem to refer more to spontaneous emotions. Inspiration usually comes later – when a voyage is finished, and you are back home. There’s a feeling that you’ve left something there, far away, and at the same time brought something intangible back with you. To be inspired is somewhat like being infected, but in a marvelously good way! After your first discoveries through travel, you’ll never feel absolutely happy again without trying to find answers to even more questions, sometimes very simple ones like, “How do Arctic poppies smell?”
Naturally, if you’ve never tried a polar expedition cruise, we can’t do much except offer some age-old advice – experience it yourself. No one can discover these remarkable regions of the world for you in a way that truly inspires on a personal, experiential level: only you can do that. You
won’t find these opportunities in books, movies or elsewhere: “How does it feel to stand on the North Pole?” “What were Amundsen’s thoughts when his ship approached the Antarctic continent?” “What does it sound like when an iceberg is calving from a glacier?”
Join P O S E I D O N EXPEDITIONS and launch your own era of discovery. Because we feel responsible for “infecting” our travelers – and what is more, being seriously infected ourselves – we are always seeking new places and opportunities for your next discovery. Come with us on new and inspiring adventures aboard our ships Sea Spirit and 50 Years of Victory.

JAN BRYDE
Expedition Leader
Jan has worked as an Expedition Leader or cruise director since 1994 on cruise vessel all over the world, traveling to more than 115 countries. He’s made more
than 60 voyages to Antarctica and 30 into the Arctic region, including a Northwest Passage and more than a
dozen trips to the geographic North Pole.
DR. SUSAN CURRIE
Geo Scientist, Geologist
As a professional geologist for more than 25 years, Susan now enjoys traveling aboard expedition ships and sharing her enthusiasm for the natural environment. Her career in expedition
cruising stretches back to 2002 and has encompassed such diverse areas as the Antarctic, Alaska, Greenland, the North Pole, the
South Pacific, and Australasia.
ANJA ERDMANNExpedition Leader
Anja visited Greenland the first time in 2000 as part of her tourism management curriculum at university. Staying in a small village
where dogs outnumbered people by five to one, she was quickly won over to the polar environmental and lifestyle and feels that the Arctic
and Antarctic are her true homes and professional arenas. Anja has been working since then mainly as Expedition Leader in the Arctic and the
Antarctic regions, but also feels at home in “normal waters.”

EXPERTS
BIRGIT LUTZ
Journalist & Arctic Adventure Traveler
Journalist and arctic adventure traveler, Birgit is our “tough cookie.” She absolutely loves the Arctic and has traveled to the North Pole and crossed Greenland
– on skis! Besides these accomplishments, she is an award-winning journalist, photographer and author of
several books on polar travel. Her knowledge, experience and passion are amazingly inspiring to all of us.
IAN JANSMAKayak Master
Ian’s career in the fields of sea kayak guiding, expedition cruising, and conservation research has taken him to some of the world’s wildest and
most remote locations. Whether upon the waves of the tropical South Pacific or under the aurora-filled
skies of Greenland, Ian feels at home wherever Nature is still in control.
RAINER ULLRICH
Artist in Residence
Rainer developed his passion for painting in remote polar environments in 2002 during his legendary crossing of the Northeast Passage and his expedition to Greenland in 2006
together with a German explorer Arved Fuchs. His wonderful books are insider bestsellers in the expedition industry.
ANTHONY SMITHSculptor and Photographer
Anthony studied Zoology at Cambridge University, after which he began a career as a sculptor and photographer. He has created bronze statues for major institutions such
as the Natural History Museum of London and Amsterdam Royal Zoo, as well as designing a new £2 coin which is now in
circulation in the United Kingdom. In 2015 he was the winner of a BBC Wildlife Photography Grant.
DR. ANNETTE BOMBOSCH
Marine Biologist; Master in Marine Conservation
Annette’s first trip to Antarctica – camping at the base of Mt Erebus – infected her with a serious case of “polar virus.” She pursued her PhD studying
Antarctic whales and participating in research expeditions to the Southern Ocean. Annette has a
great passion for the Polar Regions, especially marine mammals, and she loves to share her knowledge and
enthusiasm with others no matter the time of day.
DR. FRANZ GINGELE
Geologist, Glaciologist & Expedition Leader
While studying geology and glaciology at university, Franz also pursued his passion for rock-climbing and mountaineering. He
became interested in the polar regions while working on his doctorate in marine geology, and the fascination for these remote
environments has gripped him ever since. Since 1998, Franz worked as a lecturer and Expedition Leader on more than 200 trips to the Antarctic,
Arctic, and Russian Far East.

North Pole is the northernmost point on the Earth where all directions point south; all lines of longitude converge there, so its longitude can be defined as any degree value. Reservations and Payment. A deposit of 20% of the appropriate cabin rate is re-quired to confirm reservation with final payment due 90 days prior to departure.
Cancellation and Refunds. All requests for cancellation must be made in writing. Cancellations received 120 days prior to departure will be fully re-funded less an administrative fee of 5% of the applicable cabin rate per per-son. Cancellations received between 119 days and 91 days prior to departure will be fully refunded less the deposit of 20% of the applicable cabin rate per person. Please, note that within the 90 day period all deposits and other payments are forfeited. In case a cancellation is received within the 90 day period (90 days and less prior to the beginning of the voyage), all payments are forfeited (cancellation fee is 100% of the cost of the applicable cabin rate per person plus the cost of the charter flight). For these and other reasons mentioned below, passengers are strongly encouraged to obtain trip cancel-lation insurance.
Prices quoted are based on group participation, and no refunds will be made for any part of the program in which passengers choose not to participate, including any helicopter flight time (if applicable and which at the discretion of the captain and expedition leader may or may not be utilized). It should be understood that refunds will not be made to passengers who do not complete the tour for any reason whatsoever.
Poseidon Arctic Voyages Ltd. DBA P O S E I D O N EXPEDITIONS (Operator here-after) reserves the right to cancel any departure due to insufficient reserva-tions up to eight weeks before the date of departure (passengers may be offered alternative cruise dates).
Operator also reserves the right to cancel any departure up until the date of that departure due to force majeure or other circumstances beyond the control of Operator that prevents the operation of the tour (this also includes governmental and administrative decisions).
Operator or its agents are not responsible for any costs or penalties relating to air transport or other services that are cancelled. Operator is not liable for failure to provide the services or accommodations offered to the extent that such services or accommodations cannot be provided due to force majeure or other circumstances beyond its control.
Itinerary. The itinerary described is subject to change at the discretion of the Operator’s Expedition Leader. This is an expedition to a remote and sparsely populated part of the world, and we expressly reserve the right to change the itinerary, the date or place of departure due to weather conditions, availability of anchorages, political conditions and other factors beyond Operator’s control without consulting the participants. It is understood that such decisions will be made in the interests of all passengers aboard and with regard to the safe-
ty of the vessel. Participants have no right to any refund or other considera-tions in the event of such itinerary changes. Nothing in this Itinerary is meant to signify the use of any specific design or model of helicopter. If a passenger misses any scheduled sailing of the vessel from any port or place, including any stopover, Operator shall not be liable for any costs, expenses or dam-ages incurred by the passenger as a result of his/her action and no refund of fare shall be granted. Passengers and staff members who participate in tours, operated by Operator, agree that any photographs or video, that include their person, may be used by Operator and its associates for promotional purposes. Passengers may not charge for their appearance in any photographs or video.
Responsibility. The payment of a deposit or full payment for a reservation on this tour shall constitute consent to all the provisions contained herein.
Operator acts as sales agent on behalf of the shipping company and as a sales agent on behalf of transport companies, hotels, and other supplying services included in the program. However, Operator, its subsidiaries and/or its as-sociated agents, shall not be held responsible for property loss(es) or dam-age resulting from illness, personal injury or death which may be sustained by reason of, or while engaged on, any tour whether due to the ownership, maintenance, use, operation or control of any aircraft, helicopter, automobile, bicycle, boat, vehicle, state carrier or any other conveyance used in carrying out these tours. Operator can assume no liability due to any cause whatsoever whether caused by failure or delay or other irregularity, acts or omissions oc-curring during a tour under which the means of transportation or other service provided thereby is offered or supplied by owners, operators or public carriers for whom Operator acts only as agent.
Operator reserves the right (at its discretion) to alter or omit any part of the itinerary or change any reservation, feature and/or means of conveyance with-out notice and for any reason whatsoever and without allowance or refund. Operator reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to departure, in which case payments will be refunded without further obligation on Operator’s part.Operator shall not be responsible for any injury to person (whether or not resulting in death) or damage to property arising out of any act of war, in-surrection, revolt or other civil uprising or military action in the countries of origin, destination or passage. The passenger is completely liable for damage or injury (to his/her own person, other passengers, ship, staff or other) caused by improper behavior.
Operator provides all passengers with medical insurance coverage to the value of 100.000 EUR per person provided and implemented by insurance company (Insurer) in accordance with the Insurer’s general terms and condi-tions. Nevertheless, it is to be understood by passengers that the Insurer is an independent provider and the Insurance Policy is made between the pas-senger and the Insurer. Operator is not liable for any disagreements or mis-understandings that might arise between the passenger and the Insurer. Each passenger is fully responsible for resolving any issues that might arise from his/her contract with the Insurer. Operator reserves the right to substitute the Insurer. In case of substitution, the new Insurer is to provide an insurance policy that is sufficient for the expedition cruise by Operator described in this brochure or file. Passengers are not permitted to bring or have onboard any

pets or animals, firearms, flammable or hazardous items, controlled or pro-hibited substances or drugs, contraband or items prohibited by any country or port to be visited. Baggage is transported entirely at the owner’s risk.
For those passengers who rejected the insurance policy included into the cost of voyage, but did not make appropriate insurance policy on their own: in case of medical problems arising during the voyage, either on board or on shore, which results in costs for evacuation, use of aircraft or repatriation, the responsibility for payment of these costs rests solely with the passenger and his/her Insurer. The onboard medical personnel (doctors) are independent contractors and work directly for the passenger concerned.
Insurance. All passengers are covered by medical travel insurance policy to the value of 100.000 EUR per person and said policy includes emergency evacu-ation and repatriation. This is only for travelers under 85 years old. Travelers over 85 years old are to purchase their own insurance policy with coverage not less than 100,000 EUR – such policy is to cover risks of repatriation/evacua-tion from extremely remote territories, and is to be sufficient for travelling in the High Arctic. Any risks, not covered by the insurance policy provided, are to be covered by passengers at his/her disposal and at his/her own expense. Insurance is in effect only on board the Ship and outside the port of Murmansk.
The published rate is based on the prices, exchange rates, duties and taxes as known to Operator at the time of publication of materials and at the time of travel confirmation. Operator reserves the right to raise the published rate (for such reasons as but not limited to unforeseeable increases in exchange rates, duties, taxes, port fees and fuel prices) if considered necessary by Operator. Operator will inform passengers, tour operators or agents at least 30 days prior to departure. In the event of a price increase of more than 15% of the total price of the trip, passengers, tour operators or agents are entitled to cancel the trip without incurring cancellation fee for the trip.
By forwarding a deposit the passenger certifies that he/she does not have any mental, physical or other condition or disability that would create a hazard for him/her or other passengers. Operator reserves the right to cancel or with-draw any person as a member of a tour at any time.
Please read: By purchasing this product you accept the above Terms and Conditions. In case you disagree to any of the Terms and Condi-tions of Operator you will not be able to take part in the expedition cruise.

erary changes. The Captain and expedition team will accordingly make every effort to find the best alternative to the original itinerary while keep-ing passengers informed and updated. Itinerary changes are not subject to passenger approval/consent and in the event of such a change no re-funds or price adjustments are possible. Placement of a booking with Op-erator amounts to an acknowledgement that itinerary changes are possible.
Photography/Video. Operator reserves the right to use photographs and/or videos taken during the operation of the voyage for promotional purposes for the company and/or its sales agents. Passengers who prefer that their images not be used are asked to identify themselves to Operator and its agent, prior to embarkation.
Smoking. There is no smoking inside the ship. There will be a designated smoking place outside in a sheltered area.
Alcohol. Alcohol is available for sale in our bar. Operator reserves the right to refuse alcohol to anyone deemed to be intoxicated.
Eligibility. There are no specific physical requirements for travel in Polar Re-gions. However we are traveling to the remote region of the world and we are traveling on a ship which, at times, may be in rough seas. Passengers with certain medical/health issues may not be appropriate for this type of expedi-tion and are advised to exercise appropriate caution. Our medical information form lists a number of these conditions.
Pre-departure forms. Prior to boarding, specific passenger information is required not only for passenger safety, but for international reporting regu-lations. Required information must be completed in the forms provided by Operator and in our possession at least 60 days prior to departure. Final documents cannot be issued for passengers whose information has not been received.
Passenger Medical Information. We require all passengers to submit basic medical information prior to departure. Upon receipt of that basic medical information, specific physical conditions may necessitate additional docu-mentation from a passenger’s physician certifying fitness to travel on a voy-age to Antarctica. If additional medical confirmation is requested, board-ing will not be allowed absent receipt of that confirmation. Operator has a pregnancy policy that women are welcome with explicit doctor’s permission and having signed a specific waiver. Pregnancy policies of carriers (ship own-ers, airlines, bus companies, hotels, etc) may also apply. Please note that medical information will, of necessity, be available to designated P O S E I D O N EXPEDITIONS staff.
Please note that regardless of general eligibility there may be instances where environmental conditions require a level of fitness/mobility. In these cases individual participation in the landing(s) in question may be restricted by the Captain, Expedition Leader, or ship’s doctor.
Travel Insurance. All passengers are required to carry valid travel insurance. This insurance must contain medical and evacuation coverage and should in-clude cancellation and trip interruption as well. As any potential evacuation from Polar Regions can cost up to $150,000 we recommend that no policy carry less than this amount of coverage. As part of the pre-departure forms Operator will require information as to carrier, policy number, and a 24-hour contact number.
All prices quoted are for cruise only. Our ground agents can assist with ar-rangements for additional hotel nights, private transfers and land excursions.
Responsibility. The payment of a deposit or full payment for a reservation on this tour shall constitute consent to all the provisions contained herein.
Operator or its agents are not responsible for any costs or penalties relating to air transport or other services that are cancelled. Operator is not liable for failure to provide the services or accommodations offered to the extent that such services or accommodations cannot be provided due to force majeure or other circumstances beyond its control.
Operator is a qualified tour operator that organizes and administers its polar voyages. Operator will provide services in conjunction with local operators and air and sea operators. The designated operator(s), in turn, acts only as an agent for any transportation carrier, hotel, ground operator, or other suppliers of services connected with these tours (“other providers”), and the other pro-viders are solely responsible and liable for providing their respective services. The passenger tickets in use by the carriers shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the passenger; the carriers are not responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time participants are not aboard their conveyances. Operator and its designated service providers shall not be held liable for (A) any damage to, or loss of, property or injury to, or death of, persons oc-casioned directly or indirectly by an act or omission of any other provider, including but not limited to any defect in any aircraft, watercraft, or vehicle operated or provided by such other provider; and (B) any loss or damage due to delay, cancellation, or disruption in any manner caused by the laws, regula-tions, acts or failures to act, demands, orders, or interpositions of any govern-ment or any subdivision or agent thereof, or by acts of God, strikes, fire, flood, war, rebellion, terrorism, insurrection, sickness, quarantine, epidemics, theft, or any other cause(s) beyond their control. The participant waives any claim against Operator for any such loss, damage, injury, or death. In the event of Itinerary change due to any unforeseen circumstances or due to force majeure Operator is not to be held liable for any costs incurred by passengers in this case and no refunds or price adjustments are possible.
By registering for our voyage, the participant certifies that he/she does not have any mental, physical, or other condition or disability that would create a hazard for him/herself or other participants. Operator and its designated tour operator reserve the right in their sole discretion to accept, decline to accept, or remove any participant from a voyage. Operator reserves the right, without penalty, to make changes in the published itinerary whenever, in their judgment, conditions warrant, or if they deem it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or safety of participants.
Passengers are not permitted to bring or have onboard any pets or animals, firearms, flammable or hazardous items, controlled or prohibited substances or drugs, contraband or items prohibited by any country or port to be visited.
Baggage and personal effects are at all times the sole responsibility of the participant.
Resolution of disputes. Acceptance of the initial services to be provided on the trip shall constitute an acceptance by the trip member of these terms and conditions. On advancement of deposit to Operator, the depositor therefore agrees to be bound by the above recited Terms & Conditions.
