1. Go to student list and copy/paste all of your students into one Excel worksheet
2. Delete all columns of information except for: last name, first name, ID number
3. Delete the “headings” row4. Name your file and change “file type” to CSV, then
save

Apperson One-Time Steps
Make sure students bubble in their IDs on the form Create your key While the machine is connected to your computer,
send the key through the scanner Select “session”, then “test properties”, and type
your name, the exam name, and change any other info
Program your standards (see the next slide) Save the key
Apperson Labeling a Key:
1. Select “session” and then click on “standards”2. Choose the standards which fit your subject3. Drag/drop the standards tested to the box on the
left4. Click on the selected standard (in the box), and
move cursor to the box on the right and begin assigning question numbers to that standard
5. Once all questions are assigned to a standard, save the key again.
Assigning Standards to the Questions
Keep the computer plugged into the Apperson machine and make sure the scanner is recognized (if its not, it will say “scanner not found”.
Once the key has been loaded, and the question count verified, run the student tests.
The student tests will populate on your computer. Save the file once the exams have all been scanned. Open “Reports” and select the one(s) which meet your
needs. You can save, print, or copy from this location.
Running Student Forms:
Plug your computer into the scanner (make sure it is detected)
On your computer, open the class file for the exam
After the screen populates with all the previous exams, select “transmit key”.
Once the scanner display reads the correct question count, run the make-up test forms.
The new data will populate on the screen. Save the file & re-run reports if needed.
