The ASH Minority Medical Student Award Program (MMSAP) launched its first cohort of medical students
across the country in 2004 with a goal to increase minority representation in hematology. For over a
decade the program has successfully provided research experience and mentorship to early-career
medical students who have been able to use that knowledge and support to advance their careers.
