Optical, full-field metrology for 3D coordinate measurement is a

Automated Optical Metrology

The Idea
ATOS is a 3D coordinate measuring machine.
The fast, non-contact, optical 3D scanner delivers
a high-resolution point cloud, which precisely
describes free-form surfaces and primitives.
ATOS provides three-dimensional measurement data
and analysis for industrial components such as sheet
metal parts, tools and dies, turbine blades, proto-
types, injection molded parts, castings, and more.
The Technology
ATOS Core uses GOM‘s proven stereo camera s etup.
This means that the sensor is self-monitoring and
provides accurate, reliable measurement data. In ad-
dition, ATOS Core features both Triple Scan and Blue
Light Technology, enabling high detailed feature
capture with fast measurement times for various
part sizes, surfaces, finishes, and geometries.
The ATOS Core is an optical 3D measuring device for scanning and
inspection of industrial components. The stereo camera system uses
GOM‘s Triple Scan und Blue Light Technology and is optimized for
3D measurement of small and medium-sized parts where high-quality
data and process monitoring are important.

Triple Scan and Blue Light Technology
The built-in ATOS Core optical 3D scanner includes
GOM’s proven Triple Scan and Blue Light Technology.
This technology enables high detailed feature capture
with faster measurement times for various part sizes,
surfaces, finishes, and geometries, regardless of envi-
ronmental lighting conditions.
Automated Quality Control
The mobile industrial system allows a quick setup
and requires no fixings to the factory floor or special
measuring plates. The measuring machine can be
transported easily from plant to plant or from loca-
tion to location, thus supporting production ramp-up or new product launches.
Industrial Components
The ATOS ScanBox only uses industrially proven and
tested components, which are completely integra-
ted within the system. The industrial grade housing
offers the operator both protection and visibility
during the measurement process.
Ready to Operate
The complete solution from one single source
contains hardware, software, support, safety and
documentation. The result is a completely inte-
grated solution using tested, reliable industrial
components, which have been optimized to work
with each other.
Small to Medium
The system can be loaded with parts and compo-
nents up to 500 mm in diameter and height and up
to 100 kg weight. The optical 3D measuring machi-
ne only requires a standard power connection and
1.9 m² floor space.
Industrial Safety
The ATOS ScanBox guarantees maximum safety du-
ring the measurement and inspection process. Built-
in hard- and software safety checks offer standard
certified safety for both operator and parts.

Kinematics Line
The ATOS ScanBox is an optical 3D measuring machi-
ne for fully automated 3D digitizing and inspection.
It utilizes optimized industrial components, mobility
and high safety. Its high safety standards ensure that
operator and part safety is maintained at any time.
The integrated ATOS Professional software with Vir-
tual Measuring Room (VMR) incorporates the com-
plete inspection workflow from offline programming
to data capture, inspection, trend analysis, reporting
and data export. The software removes the require-
ment for specific robot programming skills.
The measuring machine can be extended to include
fully integrated photogrammetry and reference
point collection. The integrated automated pho-
togrammetry delivers a freshly measured, highly
accurate reference system, ensuring process-safe,
repeatable and reliable results.
The ATOS Core Kinematics Line integrates the ATOS Core 3D scannerin an ATOS ScanBox automated measuring cell. The solution is used
for automated measurement and inspection of small to medium
parts and components. This enables efficient quality control
throughout the production process.

Kiosk Interface is a human machine interface for
simplified interaction with the measuring machine.
It handles the complete measurement and inspec-
tion workflow automatically. As human interaction
is reduced, high precision and data quality are
guaranteed, and measurement parameters, data
and operating system are protected.
To enable quick and accurate component and fixture
referencing, ATOS Core can be extended to include
fully automated photogrammetry. Automated pho-
togrammetry delivers a highly accurate reference
system from parts or fixtures for 3D scanning, ensu-
ring process safety over long periods as well as time
and cost savings. Photogrammetry is completely
integrated into the ATOS Professional software.

The standard ATOS Core Kinematics Line package contains the ATOS ScanBox 4105 and ATOS Core sensor model.
Depending on measurement tasks, preset sensor models for different resolutions and measurement field sizes can be
