from tHe Pastor
Dear Friends,
School is back in session and our routines are resuming. As we mentioned last week, this week we welcome Fr. Dave Vincents and Marty Phillips who are speaking on behalf of the Diocese of Puerto Escondido in Mexico. Thank you for your welcome, prayers and generosity.
Next weekend we will have our annual financial report before all Masses. I want to thank Joan Cardone, our Business Manager, Jeff Davis, our Finance Commission Chair, and members of our Finance Commission for all their help in making us the best stewards possible of our parish resources. Thank you all for all you do in that regard.
In the next month there will be several important events and recognitions that I want to bring to your attention. First and most important is the celebration of our 75th anniversary as a parish. Archbishop Schnurr will be here September 21 to celebrate the 5 p.m. Mass, along with Bishop Dan Conlon, former associate Pastor in the late 1970s. We will have a pig roast following the Mass.
The following weekend, September 28 & 29, we will have our Fall Healing Mass at 3 p.m. At the 5 p.m. Mass we will acknowledge and celebrate Brother Edward Kesler’s 50th anniversary as a brother. We have been so blessed by Brother Ed’s ministry and example through the years. This will be a good time to celebrate him. A light reception will follow Mass. In addition, one of the ministries of Brother Ed is the St. Vincent dePaul Society which cares for those experiencing need in our area. We will have a commissioning for them at Mass. This is also a Pre-Cana weekend, and those couples who have been involved with our marriage preparation program will be in attendance and blessed.
Throughout the weekend, in our Gathering Space, we will welcome the Bethlehem Christian Families who will be displaying and selling their olive wood carvings. Due to the times of unrest in the Holy Land, they are not always able to provide these goods for pilgrims. We will be welcoming them and offering our parish the opportunity to see their goods and purchase, if you wish.
Thank you all for everything you do to help make our parish such a special place.
God bless,
Fr. Tom

A Gift of Love for our Priests“The Priesthood is the Love of the Heart of Jesus.”
—St. John Vianney You are invited to offer One Holy Hour for our pastor, Fr. Tom Kreidler, our new parochial vicar, Fr. Jeff Stegbauer, our beloved Fr. Pat Crone and our priests at Mt. St. Mary Seminary of the West and Comboni Mission Center.
May they be strengthened for their ministry in the year to come and find a sense of family and friendship as we support them in prayer in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
We will:• Begin Thursday, August 15 through Thursday, September 12.• Offer prayers and thoughts for their intentions. • Spend an hour with Our Lord. • Sign your name on the poster in the candle room.
The poster will be displayed in the Gathering Space on the weekend of Sept. 14/15.
God bless you!

Rosary Coast to CoastOctober 13 at 4 PM on the IHM front lawn“You always leave the Rosary for later, and you end up not saying it at all because you are sleepy. If there is no other time, say it in the street without letting anybody notice it. It will, moreover, help you to have presence of God.” – St. Josemaria Escriva
You may have met the Alhamoud family at one of the Mountains to the Sea luncheons, the festival, volunteering at our meal packing event last fall or after Mass at Donuts with the Alhamouds. As you may recall, the Alhamouds had to flee Syria because of the war and spent several years as refugees in Jordan before the State Department brought them to Cincinnati through Catholic Charities’ Refugee Resettlement program. As a result of the upheaval in their lives and the accompanying disruption in the children’s education, we’ve recently learned of an urgent need for tutoring for the two oldest children who have suffered severe gaps in their education. They are currently enrolled in Huntington Learning Center which has assessed their needs and put together a plan to bring them up to their current grade level. If you are interested in assisting the Alhamouds with the tuition for Huntington, please contact Sue Keefe ([email protected]), Therese Hazzard ([email protected]) or Barb Szucsik, ([email protected]) or alternatively, you can send a check directly to Huntington Learning Center (3870 Paxton Ave, Suite E Cincinnati, OH 45209 Attn: Gonzalo) with a note in the memo line “For the Alhamoud Family”. Thank you.
