Preface

• CAT-iq stands for Cordless Advanced Technology, Internet and Quality, and is the global technology initiative from the DECT Forum and is designed for IP-voice services in the next generation networks.

• CAT-iq is based on the regulatory framework of the mature and reliable DECT technology. It is fully backward compatible to DECT GAP and, focuses on high quality wideband audio as well as low bit-rate data application.

• CAT-iq has been developed to meet the needs of the operators, in cooperation with the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI) and has been realized into technical specifications by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)

Orange France Telecom

• Orange opens up access to High Definition Voice for its customers, Paris, June 14, 2011

• Exclusively with Orange, the Samsung SMT W3510, the first high definition voice fixed phone

• In a few days time, Orange will be releasing the very first fixed HD phone incorporating version 2 of "CAT-IQ", which is replacing the "DECT" standard. The Samsung SMT W3510 offers excellent acoustic quality and is very easy to use, thanks to its highly user-friendly interface. It will further strengthen the range offered by Orange: five fixed HD handsets from four different manufacturers - Sagem, Alcatel, Thomson and Samsung

Goals of Certification

The CAT-iq certification program

• promotes CAT-iq to market stakeholders, e.g. end users, carriers, retailers as a technically credible implementation of conformity to a set of standards that will add value to their industry/lives.

• ensures interoperability of devices from multiple manufacturers for functionalities defined in CAT-iq. (Being compliant with CAT-iq standards tested comprehensively according to the functionalities defined as mandatory by the CAT-iq standards).

• ensures a mandatory level of quality requirement for specific product parameters to achieve consistent user experience of the different stakeholders.

• CAT-iq - initiated in 2005 by the DECT Forum, the international association of the home communication industry

• CAT-iq - the global broadband technology for home communication launched in December 2006

• CAT-iq 1.0 „HD Sound“ - standardization and certification program finished: CAT-iq 1.0 products are on the market

• CAT-iq 2.0 – „Multi Line“ - standard published, certification available, and first certified products available, Q1 2011
