Honor Guard Meeting
2nd Thursday every month
7:00 pm
From the Auxiliary President
Hello Auxiliary Members:
First off, I would like to thank the sisters who sent
in money to help us with our programs. Your gener-
osity is greatly appreciated. If anyone still wishes to
donate, that would be great; this money goes toward
our programs that help our veterans.
Membership is coming in right now at 76%, which
is wonderful. Speaking of membership, there is still
time to pay your dues before October 1st to have
your name in the drawing for a prize. The winners
of the drawing will be notified by mail, and prizes
to be given out at the October meeting, which will
be October 18th at 7 p.m. So if you haven’t paid
your dues, now is the time to do so. Dues for con-
tinuing members are $19.00 and for a new member
$24.00. If you know someone who would like to
join our Auxiliary, there are applications on the
table by the door, and if anyone has any questions
please feel free to give me a call.
The Auxiliary will be setting up a box next month at
the Post collecting items for the Stand Down: these
items go to homeless Veterans. There will be fliers
with items needed; there will also be a list on the
top of the box with info on items needed. Please
help with this project. We need to fill 25 bags with
the listed items. Look for more details in next
month’s newsletter.

From the Commander Greetings:
Another summer is coming to an end just in time
for the best season, College Football. We will be
having our tailgate parties at the Post for all
Nebraska games, bring a snack and enjoy the
game with friends.
Things at the Post are going in a positive direc-
tion and the momentum will hopefully continue.
Remember this is your VFW Post and it will be
as good as you make it. Membership is a big
part of our success, so please keep your
membership updated.
Come downtown for the Omaha Labor Day
Parade, September 3rd, and watch our VFW
Post 2503 Color Guard.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Post STEAK FRY
on Friday, September 7th.
Our thoughts are with Past Commander Bob
Brown for a speedy recovery.
Thank you again for your continued support.

VETERANS CRISIS LINE: 1-800-273-8255 press 1
September is suicide prevention month. Suicide can affect anyone, not just veterans. As the Auxiliary Hospital Chair-man, I encourage you to read this, cut it out, and put on your refrigerator. Every day, 22 veterans and 1 active duty soldier take their lives. As an Auxiliary, we are here to take care of our veterans. Are we doing enough? Are you doing enough?
Be sure to know the 5 signs of mental health suffering: 1. Personality Changes 2. Agitation 3. Withdrawal
4. Poor Self Care 5. Hopelessness.
Please call me if you have any questions: 402-391-2292.
