The Berlin Museum of Medical History is a constituent of the
Charité – University Medicine Berlin. Realised from the
Pathological Museum founded by the eminent Berlin pathologist
Rudolf Virchow, it is located in the museum’s original building
on the historical premises of the Charité (Campus Mitte).
Serving as a public Charité museum with regular opening hours,
the Berlin Museum of Medical History offers its visitors fascinating
insights into the development of medicine within the last 300 years. Its permanent presentation displays first and foremost a
collection of some 750 dry and wet human specimens, as well as models and illustrations derived from core spaces
throughout the history of medicine: anatomical theatre, anatomical museum, laboratory, and hospital ward.
The museum forms a popular venue for a large number of events. In its Lecture Hall Ruin scientific seminars and
workshops, as well as press conferences, receptions, and atmospheric evenings take place throughout the whole year.
