Born November 28, 1929Grew up in Detroit, MichiganGordy was a middle class family, and his father was white. Berry Gordy is also distantly related to former president Jimmy Carter. Through Jimmy’s mother Bessie Lillian Gordy.

In 1950 United states army drafted Gordy for the Korean war.

When coming back from the war music became interesting to him.

Gordy meets Jackie Wilson a famous singer at a Show bar talent club.

Gordy showed Jackie a lot of songs he wrote in his note book. From then on Gordy got a gig from Jackie Wilson.

Gordy wrote thousands of songs, but the only thing was that he didn’t have anyone to sing them.

Until in 1957 he met the Miracles. Their first song with Berry Gordy was Reet Petite.

From then on more and more artist came.

Racist people started to give negative threats.

Policemen being very disrespectful.Someone even through a brick through the front window.

Getting through all of that ignorance Gordy just gets bigger and bigger.

In the 1960’s Motown Records was the talk of the town.

Berry Gordy were getting more none artist. Such as the Temptations, Diana Ross, Marvin Gay and the Jackson Five.
