Definition of Ratio: Shows the relative size of two or more values
Ratios can be represented in three ways:• Part to Part stars to circles 3:4• Part to Whole stars to shapes 3:7• Whole to Part shapes to circles 7:4
Part- describes a portion or part of the pictureWhole - describes the whole picture
Ratios can be written in three ways:
1) Using a colon Example 3 : 4, 3 : 7, 7 : 4
2) Using the word “to”Example 3 to 4, 3 to 7, 7 to 4
3) As a fraction (only part to whole ratios can be written like this) Example: 3/7

• Ratio – A ratio is a comparison between two or more quantities that are related.
• Ratios can be equivalent to each other in the same way that fractions can be.
