Bogra Metal Sector at a glanceBogra metal sector comprises of around 2,000 small and micro metal
enterprises (as already mentioned in previous slide, metal enterprises
include foundries, engineering workshops and similar) (source: Baseline
survey conducted by BMEDP in 1997) . Historically this metal sector has
been expanding in Bogra for over hundred years. After independence this
sector was squeezed a bit. However, again it started expanding since
eighties. During the inception of BMEDP in 1997 this sector was largest
metal sector in Bangladesh after Dhaka’s famous Dholai Khal region. The
specialization of Bogra’s metal sector is the production of different
agricultural machineries, and their spare parts.
