Go to page 4 for the prize winners. As the arbiter I found the tournament most interesting particularly the effect of
the permanent acceleration on Swiss Per-fect. The computer coped well. There are
always people who will dispute the pro-gram’s solution to the complicated FIDE pairing rules, [one only has to read the Know alls on the chat boards] but I do not find it so. The selections for the last round were brilliant and showing us what in my view guides it:
To be the equally unfair to all

There was a good
gathering of 17 girl
players not quite get-

the overall numbers
did not quite match
last year’s record ei-
ther. All in all a very
pleasant tournament

Now for a play-off?
So where do we go from here? The tradition at the Box Hill Chess Club demands play offs. The most
famous one being a six-way play off in the early 90s which I might be able to get Trevor to relate.
This is what we need to do .
2 games for the championship with tie breaks short games in case of another tie.
A round robin between B division winners and if necessary short game tie break. Good luck. I will
publish a schedule after consultation with the players

At last a club game Although Gluzman junior could hardly refuse. I watched the end of this game and
thought the saving moves by Roger well constructed. Now for some more games for next week
