A QUICK MESSAGE FROM ME

Each year, we work tirelessly behind the scenes to source a range of shows from theatre companies across Australia. This ensures that audiences have the opportunity to see a variety of programming that they may not otherwise have the chance to see on a local stage. These shows, labelled throughout this brochure and on our website as "BREC Presents", have been hand-picked specifically for you, our loyal audience. As a not-for-profit organisation, your purchase of tickets to "BREC Presents" shows helps us to be able to continue offering this varied range of programming now and into the future.

Also, because we are a registered charity, all donations to BREC above $2 are tax deductible and are allocated to special projects. We are currently raising money for a digital projector, which is valued at $80,000. With the help of the community we have raised just over $20,000, and are hoping to reach our target soon.

Your donation will help ensure lovers of film can again view the latest movie offerings at BREC, as well as festival hits and the classics. You can donate right now by visiting our website or by calling our friendly Box Office team. Thank you for your support!

BREC PRESENTS

The Cowgirl and The ShowgirlSomething special happens when Beccy Cole and Libby O'Donovan take to the stage together. They take the audience on a journey of intertwining genres, swapping songs, sharing stories and breaking musical stereotypes. It could be the anticipation of a curious audience - after all, who would expect the golden girl of country to swap notes with a critically acclaimed cabaret and jazz performer? Perhaps it's just good old fashioned "girl meets girl" chemistry...

After sell-out crowds when guesting at each other's shows at Tamworth, Sydney Mardi Gras, Barossa Vintage Festival and across regional Australia, the time has come for Beccy and Libby to present an unforgettable performance!

Do you believe in truth, justice and the Tooth Fairy?

Hogfather is the Discworld® version of Father Christmas. When the jolly fat man is kidnapped, who is going to make sure that all the good boys and girls get their presents?

Discworld’s favourite anthropomorphic personification, Death, decides to take over filling all the stockings. But he needs the help of his granddaughter Susan in order to save the Hogfather. Susan is a governess so she’s not afraid of anything. She fights off thieves, assassins, bogeymen and the odd monster under the bed.

Director Sharon Kennedy's Hogfather will take you back to a time of childhood innocence - when the Tooth Fairy always came and Santa was real. This local community production uses the talents of local designers and builders.

Hogfather is Naked Villainy Theatre’s tribute to the late Terry Pratchett® whose satirical series set on the Discworld® is beloved by millions all over the world. It follows on from the highly successful production of Mort in 2014. Like Mort, Hogfather is a hugely funny and witty play about human beings and how belief keeps the world turning.

NSW STATE OPERA PRESENTS

The Ten SopranosPossibly the most powerful all-female group in Australia, The Ten Sopranos is an act which showcases the awesome talents of one of Australia’s greatest ever singers, Penny Pavlakis.

Penny is a singer who commands respect in both the classical and contemporary world. She is a winner of international singing competitions in both classical and contemporary music in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Australia at a time when judging criteria was based on pure talent, vocal ability and star power, not by image makers or television producers.

With over 10, 000 performances as a Principal Opera Artist and concert performer around the world, she is considered by her peers as “The Singers' Singer”. With a vocal gift which has been nurtured through many years of arduous vocal training, her ability to combine classical

and contemporary singing has left international audiences in tears, critics in awe and her peers in amazement.

Together with the other sopranos, all handpicked for their individual brilliance, the group has prepared a repertoire which includes Nessun Dorma, The Prayer, Amigos Para Sempre, O Danny Boy, You Raise Me Up, A Hard Day’s Night, Granada, New York New York and tributes to John Denver, Peter Allen and Broadway medleys.

On September 1, 1954 an unknown young man walked into the recording studio in the Memphis Recording Service building at 706 Union Ave, Memphis, Tennessee and walked out having cut a record that would define its own genre of music. That single, Hey Porter, was released on the Sun Records label on June 21, 1955 and a legend was born.

Few artists can claim that they are an entire genre of music unto themselves but if you try and define this man's body of work, you are left with one conclusion. Johnny Cash is that artist! There were none like him before and there have been none like him since.

Since 2009, Award-Winning singer Daniel Thompson & Australian guitar master Stuie French have been wowing Australian audiences with

Johnny Cash the Concert, keeping the spirit of the Man in Black alive with their authentic tribute to Johnny Cash and his music.

In 2015 the boys return with their brand new show Cash 60 - 60 Years of Johnny Cash, marking 60 years since the world first heard from the powerhouse that was Johnny Cash. Backed as always by their engine room, The Tennessee Studs, Cash 60 promises to be Johnny Cash the Concert's best show yet!

Happy Days Records presents Buddy: In Concert, 60 Years of Buddy Holly - a celebration of rock 'n' roll history starring Scott "Buddy" Cameron and touring the country this October/November.

Scott "Buddy" Cameron is no stranger to portraying Holly having done so for over a decade to many a rapturous crowd. Scott is one of the most recognised Buddy Holly performers in the world receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of the 50's legend in the International smash hit musical Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story in productions staged from 2005 through to 2009 and, to this day, continues to don the trademark horn-rimmed glasses, the ever so engaging and charismatic figure and a lilting vocal hiccup in many other concert productions. He is recognised by Members of Holly's own family and the "Peggy Sue" as being the closest thing today to the legend of Holly.

Buddy: In Concert, 60 Years of Buddy Holly will see Cameron perform some of rock 'n' roll's greatest songs from across the 50s and 60's from artists including Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, among others. Following a short intermission, Scott will get his rave on performing the very best of Buddy Holly's catalogue of hits. Expect to hear the hits Peggy Sue, That'll Be The Day, Oh Boy, Maybe Baby and many more.

A Kevin Bloody Wilson show is not just a concert performance - for most, it’s a full-on event and an opportunity to tick from your bucket list the chance to see Australia’s most unique International comedy legend. Kevin has become a national institution – a must see for any person wanting to see absolute original Australian comedy.

If we were asked to nominate one individual to best define Australian humour, for most of us, the name Kevin Bloody Wilson immediately springs to mind. His recently released biography DILLIGAF, The Life And Rhymes Of Kevin Bloody Wilson is a raucous, earthy, indepth look at perhaps one of the only Australian comedians who has not bowed to the pressures of political correctness.

Kevin Bloody Wilson’s story is remarkable. He has become a part of Australian Culture, a part of who

we are and how we define ourselves. His DILLIGAF attitude is a quality to be envied.

He’s been listed in Who’s Who, his entire body of work has been preserved for future generations with the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra and his fan base stretches from Broken Hill to Buckingham Palace. It’s also a known fact that nobody tells Australian stories better than Kevin Bloody Wilson!
