Breeding dogs
• Males mature at about 10 months old• Females should be allowed to skip the first
heat cycle before being bred
• Females are in heat for 10-14 days• Gestation is about 60 days• Puppies are born with their eyes closed and
unable to hear• Day 10-12 their eyes will open and the
puppies will begin moving around more
Puppy Management
• At 2-3 days tails should be docked and dew claws removed if it is desired
• At day 10 the puppies should be dewormed for the first time.
• Deworming should be done every 2 weeks from then until 12 weeks old.

• Puppies should be weaned at about 6 weeks.• 4 Days after weaning the puppies should be
vaccinated.• Booster shots should be given every 2 to 3
weeks until the puppies are 12 weeks old
