• Attention All Parishioners, going forward please Do Not put any tape, staples, glue, or stickers on your offering envelopes. This makes it extremely difficult for the outside company that we use to scan your envelopes for a true reading of your offerings. Also, you must write in the amount you are giving, or you will not get the proper credit for your contributions.
• All of those wishing to attend Mass, both at SCB & RES must continue to call the Church office or register via the website before Fridays @ 3:30PM

EXPLORATION OF SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES
Am I my brother’s and sister’s keeper? Am I the world’s keeper? Would you like to explore and live spiritual principles in a deeper way? Would you like to read and discuss spirituality with other parishioners? If yes, please accept the invitation of the Social Justice Committee to join our monthly virtual discussion and reflection on spiritual principles beginning on Tuesday, February 9th, from 7 to 8 PM, and continuing every second Tuesday of the month until July 13th.
The first selected reading will be the Pope’s 2015 letter (encyclical) to all people of the world entitled “Laudato Si – On Care of Our Common Home”. We will devote six months to reading Laudato Si; one chapter each month. You may buy Laudato Si in book format or download a free copy online.
The discussions will take place virtually, via Zoom. If you are interested in joining us or have any questions, please contact Sr. Chala at [email protected] OR Janet at [email protected] ; please be sure to put Laudato Si in the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you.
Testing for Covid-19 Esplanade Gardens testing center for Covid-19 is open to anyone but only on Fridays from 10am to 4pm in North Community Room at 129 West 147th Street.
Pierre Toussaint Scholarship Fund 2021 Applications for the Pierre Toussaint Scholarship Fund are available at the church rectory . Mon- Fri, 10AM- 3:30PM. You may also obtain it through the website at www.obmny.org to download the application form. The deadline for submitting your application is Friday, March 5, 2021. ¿Soy yo el guardián de mi hermano y mi hermana? ¿Soy el guardián del mundo? ¿Le gustaría explorar y vivir los principios espirituales de una manera más profunda? ¿Le gustaría leer y discutir sobre espiritualidad con otros feligreses? En caso afirmativo, acepte la invitación del Comité de Justicia Social para unirse a nuestra discusión y reflexión virtual mensual sobre los principios espirituales que comienza el martes 9 de febrero de 7 a 8 p.m. y continúa cada segundo martes del mes hasta el 13 de julio. Praying for Our Parish Norma Marshburn of our Parish was recently admitted to Lenox Hill Hospital this week by her son, Howard. Please keep her in prayer. Cindy Cain has left Harlem Hospital following coronavirus exposure. She has tested negative and will return to Greater Harlem Nursing Facility for rehabilitation. Please keep her in prayer. Herbert Jones has left Greater Harlem and left Harlem Hospital and returned to his home. Please pray for Herbert. The mother of Mr. Brian Tillery, 8th Grade teacher at St. Charles School, has passed away. Please pray for her and for Mr. Tillery. The sister of St. Jane Norton, SBS, Ms. Grace Carney, has passed away. This is the last remaining sibling of Sr. Jane. The Cousin of Deborah Guerrant and Wilma Dore, Ms. Cicely Tyson, has passed away. She was the senior member of their family.

The Unclean Spirits If you are like me, you will probably have noticed that some “unclean spirits” may have emerged in your life the longer the restrictions due to COVID-19 have continued. The Christmas and New Year holidays, as unusual as they were this year, possibly opened the door to other behaviors, habits or activities that were troublesome for your life. There are many of us who have become afflicted by these unclean spirts, which vary depending on each person’s susceptibility. For example, some are trapped by laziness. Others are eating too much of the wrong foods. Still others are drinking more alcohol than usual. Perhaps others have found it easy to get absorbed by pornography. During the holidays falling into behaviors like these is so easy and continuing them through the isolation of COVID-19 is even easier. Be assured that no one blames you. These are difficult times. However, I remind you that there are “better angels” available to each of us. Our God sends these better angels to help us recover a sense of who we are and who we want to be just for ourselves. I propose that we get in touch with those better angels. Be very clear when you pray to God during these difficult times that you want to recover a better sense of yourself everyday. Black History Month Mass On Sunday, February 7, 2021, our Archdiocese will celebrate the annual Black History Month Mass at 1pm in St. Patrick’s Cathedral organized by the Office of Black Ministry. This year, more than most, we are aware that new chapters of Black History have been written. The effects of the Coronavirus infection in New York City have revealed that painful reality of the distinction between the races in health care. The brutal death of George Floyd in Minneapolis makes clear the distinctions made by law enforcement based on race. The inability of many Republicans to accept National election results from voting districts in Atlanta, Detroit and Philadelphia reflects the distrust that many of our countrymen have toward other races. In less than one year we have observed directly many of the salient elements of Black History in America. Gregory Chisholm ~ Pastor Los espíritus inmundos Si eres como yo, probablemente habrás notado que algunos "espíritus inmundos" pueden haber surgido en tu vida cuanto más tiempo han continuado las restricciones debidas a COVID-19. Las vacaciones de Navidad y Año Nuevo, por inusuales que fueran este año, posiblemente abrieron la puerta a otros comportamientos, hábitos o actividades que fueran problemáticos para tu vida. Hay muchos de nosotros que se han vuelto afligidos por estos espíritus inmundos, que varían dependiendo de la susceptibilidad de cada persona. Por ejemplo, algunos están atrapados por la pereza. Otros están comiendo demasiado de los alimentos equivocados. Otros están bebiendo más alcohol de lo habitual. Tal vez a otros les ha parecido fácil ser absorbidos por la pornografía. Durante las vacaciones caer en comportamientos como estos es tan fácil y continuarlos a través del aislamiento de COVID-19 es aún más fácil. Ten la seguridad de que nadie te culpa. Son tiempos difíciles. Sin embargo, les recuerdo que hay "mejores ángeles" disponibles para cada uno de nosotros. Nuestro Dios envía estos mejores ángeles para ayudarnos a recuperar un sentido de quiénes somos y quiénes queremos ser solo para nosotros mismos. Propongo que nos pongamos en contacto con esos mejores ángeles. Sé muy claro cuando ores a Dios durante estos momentos difíciles que quieras recuperar un mejor sentido de ti mismo todos los días. Misa del Mes de la Historia Negra El domingo 7 de febrero de 2021, nuestra Arquidiócesis celebrará la Misa Anual del Mes de la Historia Negra a la 1pm en la Catedral de San Patricio organizada por la Oficina del Ministerio Negro. Este año, más que la mayoría, somos conscientes de que se han escrito nuevos capítulos de la Historia Negra. Los efectos de la infección por coronavirus en la ciudad de Nueva York han revelado esa dolorosa realidad de la distinción entre las razas en el cuidado de la salud. La brutal muerte de George Floyd en Minneapolis deja claras las distinciones hechas por las fuerzas del orden basadas en la raza.
