Special Annual Events From a principal’s perspective, two of the most enjoyable and important events of the school year are the Year 6 Gradua-
tion Dinner and our Annual Presentation Ceremony.
These special occasions provide an excellent opportunity for
our school community to celebrate the wonderful achieve-ments of our students, and reflect upon the amazing learning
that occurs within our school.
The Year 6 Graduation Dinner will be held this Thursday 14th
December at the Coach House Restaurant commencing at 6.30pm.
Semester 2 Reports As part of the school’s assessment procedures, it is estimated
that Semester 2 student reports will be issued on Thursday. The reports provide a summary of your child’s progress this
semester in the key learning areas, as well as comments on their general development, both socially and emotionally.
Importantly the reports also include the effort your child has put into their learning this year and their attendance.
N.B. Parent are advised that partial absences are now record-ed as decimal showing the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) to full
day absences.
Parents who would like to speak with class teachers on re-
ceipt of reports will need to make contact with the school on Friday.
Class Parties These are to be held on Friday, after the students have re-
turned from the pool. Class teachers’ will have sent details of any special requests to students in their class.
Annual Presentation Assembly Congratulations to all students who received recognition for class and whole school awards at this special event last
Thursday evening at the Deniliquin RSL Club Auditorium. The assembly was ably conducted by our school leaders who did a
wonderful job!
Congratulations to Eliza Bermingham for being announced as
Dux for 2017 and to the following Year 5 students who have been elected as school leaders for 2018:
Captains: Jackson Muldoon-Leetham and Bonnie Everett
Vice Captains: Noah Bradley and Georgia Taylor
Prefects: Olivia Marchant, Connor Buckley, Rory Wesierski
and Chantelle Molloy
Intensive Swimming Program Completed Well done to all our students in Years 2,3 and 4 who partici-
pated in the Intensive Swimming Program held over the past fortnight. Their positive participation and application are con-
gratulated, as evidenced by the growth in their skills and con-
fidence.
Thank you so much to the instructors, teachers and support workers, who conducted the swimming lessons and to Murray
Irrigation for their financial support of the program. Thanks to
Mrs McKinnon for her organisation of the program and her efforts in ensuring its smooth and successful running.
Merry Christmas From all the staff at Edward Public School, we hope every
member of our school community enjoys a lovely festive sea-son with family and friends, and a safe and relaxing holiday
break. We are all very much looking forward to 2018 and all it brings with it!

Swimming All students have completed 2 days of swimming and, with the warmer weather, have enjoyed the opportunity. Students who
have not returned permission notes or forgotten their swim-ming attire will still walk to the pool with the remainder of the
school to be supervised under the shade shelters.
On Thursday and Friday, students competent in the water will
be able to play on the pool’s inflatable device.
As an end-of-year reward, we have requested that the canteen
at the pool be open on Thursday and Friday this week to allow students to purchase ice blocks and ice creams only. Price
range is from $1.30 up to $4.10. No other items will be for sale and parents are asked to ensure any money sent with stu-
dents is secure. The school will take no responsibility for lost
money.
Summer Vacation Students finish the school year this Friday at 3pm. All staff,
including office staff, will undertake professional development
in Moama on Monday 18th December. Some teachers will be attending on Tuesday, with intermittent hours, to complete
clean-ups and classroom transfers where required.
Staff will return to school on Monday 5th February 2018 for
professional learning and planning.
Please note: All students, from Year 1 through to Year 6, return to school on Tuesday 6th February 2018. Kinder-
garten students will start on Wednesday 7th February.
Hair Donation Congratulations to our Year 6 student, Sam Blenkiron, who has been growing his hair out for 3 years. Sam grew his
hair in order to make a donation to the Australian Alopecia Areata Foundation. The AAAF provides support for people
suffering with all forms of Alopecia. It creates awareness
and supports research into a cure or acceptable treatment for the disease. The foundation also provides wigs to suf-
ferers, which is why Sam decided to grow his hair.
Sam decided to donate to the AAAF because they accept
hair donations without the expectation of a cash donation.
We are very proud of Sam and his commitment to help oth-ers and for making a donation to such a worthy cause. Well
done, Sam!
