INSTRUCTIONAL  ALIGNMENT  PROJECT:  GETTING  TO  AN  APS-­‐CORE  

Phase  I  -­‐  Ini5ate  &  Plan  

1.  Iden5fy,  Enroll,  &  Engage  All  Stakeholders  

include  all  key  stakeholders  from  the  very  beginning  

from  teachers,  administrators  and  district  leaders  to  support  staff  

and  parents.  

2.  Perform  a  Gap  Analysis  &  Tac5cal  Needs  Assessment  

create  teams  to  conduct  this  gap  analysis  

determine  how  each  state  standards  differ  from  the  Common  

Core  standards,    

and  most  especially  where  gaps  between  the  two  sets  of  standards  occur    and  how  to  address  the  gaps  via  scafforlding  and  PD  

3.  Provide  Professional  Development  using  Model  

Curriculum  Modules  

Develop  Anchor  Standards  by  Grade  for  ELA  &  Math  

Develop  Anchor  Standards  for  Priority  Content  

Provision  a  Train-­‐the-­‐Trainer  PD  roll-­‐out  with  coaching  supports  

Train  educators  and  provide  strategies  for  how  to  deliver  

instruc5on  so  that  students  are  empowered  to  effec5vely  apply  their  knowledge  in  real-­‐world  

situa5ons  

Phase  II  -­‐  Absorb  &  Take  Ac5on  

4.  Visualize  the  Standards’  Full  ‘Trajectory’  

Understand  the  learning  progressions

regular  mee5ngs  where  teachers  work  together  to  share  their  

understanding  of  the  content  and  how  to  teach  it  so  that  students  

can  learn  the  material.  

6.  Create  A  Repository  Of  Lesson  Plans  And  Other  

Resources  

Create  Inventory  &  Guide  of  Available  Resources  

Create  team  to  manage  submission  and  content  updates
