– a consistent run measured 300 mm from the handrail (so that one does not transit from a larger to a smaller tread run)
– a handrail on the inner side of the stair
Except– Where tapered treads are located at the bottom of the flight,
the run of the tapered tread may exceed the run of the rectangular tread.
– as permitted in 9.8.4.5.(Winders)

current interpretation (100 mm)and has no impact on stairs were the guards are installed close to the nosing.
