SUMMER CAMP 2014
Welcome to Canadian Island,
For more than fifteen years, our summer camps in Tuscany have given young people from around the world the opportunity to become a better version of themselves.
We do this by providing a safe and supportive family environment where juniors and teenagers feel comfortable to try a range of new activities, and also grow as individuals.
Our firsthand experience shows us that campers easily adapt to living in a new country and thrive on challenges, so long as they feel relaxed and at home.
Small group organised and elective workshops ensure the progress of each camper is closely monitored and encouraged. It also means our instructors can focus on leading challenging and engaging classes while camp counsellors care for overall wellbeing.
And with the right mix of guidance and support, campers feel empowered to conquer everything from a ropes course to making pasta from scratch, forming life changing friendships to learning a new language.
Canadian Island strikes the right balance between culture and adventure. From helping to grow organic food to art classes in the Renaissance tradition, our campers learn to embrace the world around them. Our destination in the Tuscan hillsides, which have inspired travellers and artists for centuries, add an additional layer of magic to our camp.
We look forward to seeing you at camp!

A CANADIAN CAMP WITH AN ITALIAN HEART
We are keen believers in the importance of cultural exchanges and overseas experiences for young people. Which is why we offer such a diverse range of activities to school age students wanting to learn more about Tuscany, Italy.
From Renaissance artists like Michelangelo and Botticelli to writers such as Dante or modern cinema favourites in the form of Roberto Benigni, Tuscany
was and is a region famous for its contribution to the arts.
In keeping with this tradition, our campers take part in language classes, excursions to historical sites and world-famous museums, art and theatre workshops, field trips to local farms or beaches and traditional Italian cooking
workshops.
Young people also have the chance to mix with local Italian students at camp, helping to improve language acquisition and increase cultural awareness.
Mixing two or more cultural groups together has its challenges but it can also turn the simplest activity into an enriching cultural exchange.
See you at camp!
Our 18th century countryhouse in Tuscany overlooks the Maremma coastline and is close to famous historical cities such as Siena and Florence. A MESSAGE FROM MARIA AND LUCIA
We know the choice of a summer camp is an important one. Which is why we try to draw on our own experience as mothers to make sure that each individual child gets the attention and support they deserve.
Camp at Canadian Island is designed to both challenge and encourage young people to feel comfortable in their own skin, and their ability to make positive choices.
We do this by creating a truly welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable to be themselves - and gain confidence from mixing with people from different cultures, speaking a foreign language, learning new skills and
testing their own ability to overcome challenges.
We hope that Canadian Island Summer Camp becomes a part of your child’s life for many years to come.
Lucia & Maria
see you soon...
