Part 1: Retail (Same as previous)
Some shops have closed (particularly on Argyll Street) or relocated to outer city malls and retail parks such as Braehead and Glasgow Fort [1].

To combat this developments have been renovated, such as the St.Enoch Centre and Buchanan Galleries, one of Europe’s largest covered city centre shopping facilities [1].

Part 2: Buildings
New facilities have opened for example the Royal Concert Hall and the Cineworld, the world’s highest cinema. The Merchant City has been restored including the City Halls and the Old Fruitmarket area [2]. Strathclyde and Caledonian Universities have also built modern new buildings in the area [1].

Part 3: Transport (Same as previous)
As far as the CBD is concerned, the biggest change has been in the pedestrianisation of some of the main streets in the city
centre, such as Buchanan Street which makes it safe for
pedestrians [2].

There are also one-way systems, multi-storey car parks and sophisticated traffic light systems to ease traffic flow within and around the CBD [1]. Glasgow’s main bus station, Buchanan Street has also seen a major recent upgrade [1].

Part 3: Housing
In an attempt to attract people back into the city centre there has been a programme of building and restoration of houses in and around the CBD [1].
