OPTI Chief Academic Officer• An osteopathic physician at an institution who has
the authority and responsibility for the oversight and administration of OGME programs.
• Visit all sites annually• Develop policies and procedures for all programs• Direct and supervise all GME educational programs• Complete AOA annual reports• Direct the OGME committee• Supervise accreditation, site visits, corrective actions• Review core competency plans• Monitor work hours policies and faculty development

Qualifications• Must be DO with AOA Board certification with 3
years experience and be approved by IIEC• Minimum of 20 hours per week• Member of AODME
Director of Medical EducationResponsibilities• Coordination of all AOA training programs at the training institution • Ensure compliance with the AOA Basic Documents and specialty standards for OGME
programs• Organize and implement high quality OGME programs at the training institution• Supervise all aspects of OGME programs at the training institution including
participation in appointment and supervision of Residency Program Directors• Serve as the Intern Program Director, unless an Intern Program Director is separately
designated; • Ensure the completion of all evaluations, quarterly meetings and requirements of the
internship and residency programs• Manage all applicable affiliation agreements, documents, and correspondence
related to AOA programs• Manage the Internal Review process with the medical education committee (MEC)• Prepare the Core Competency plan • Prepare and present an annual report Participate in process where resources,
including budgetary resources, are allocated for program support• Annually attend an AODME and/or AOA OME conference for educational faculty
development
IEO/ADME• AOA Basic Documents also listed the option for Institutional
Educational Officer and/or Administrative Director of Medical Education
• Authorized point of contact for all official communication from the AOA regarding education programs
• Complete all correspondence, data, and electronic registration requests from AOA, OPTI, AACOM and specialty colleges in a timely manner
• Review and manage all internal requests for information, documentation, data requests for the OGME programs
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the DME

Sponsoring Institution’s ACGME accredited programs
• as well as for ensuring compliance with the ACGME Institutional, Common, and specialty/subspecialty specific Program Requirement

• the DIO has sufficient financial support and protected time to effectively carry out his or her educational, administrative, and leadership responsibilities
• the DIO engages in professional development applicable to his or her responsibilities as an educational leader
• sufficient salary support and resources are provided for effective GME administration
• Does NOT need to be a physician

Director of Osteopathic Education• Work with the Program Director (PD) for the residency and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) of the Sponsoring
Institution to ensure compliance with all Accreditation standards and requirements for the program to achieve and maintain Osteopathic Recognition.
• Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in OPP and the ACGME core competencies.
• Insure adequate opportunity for supervised OMM experience at the FMP site for osteopathic designated residents.
• Participate and direct osteopathic faculty development including basic preceptor capacity for allopathic faculty for osteopathic examination and evaluation.
• Ensure adequate opportunity for Osteopathic scholarly activity for osteopathic designated residents, participate in and review all osteopathic related scholarly work.
• Must meet the requirements as a Core Faculty member or PD and the requirements as a Core Osteopathic Faculty.
• Engage in osteopathic professional development applicable to responsibilities as an educational leader. i.e. must attend osteopathic medical education related conference annually
• Review credentials and approve at each participating site the osteopathic faculty member as the local site director who is accountable for designated osteopathic resident education and supervision.
• Approve the selection and continued participation of osteopathic faculty members as appropriate.
• Evaluate osteopathic faculty members annually.
• Prepare and submit all information required and requested by the ACGME relevant to initial Osteopathic Recognition as well as continued recognition.
• Advise residents with respect to osteopathic professional development.
• Serve as DOE in representation on the SI GMEC, FMRP CCC and Osteopathic Educational Review Committee.
• Act as Osteopathic liaison for all relevant osteopathic professional organizations.

• ACGME is not there to help, but mainly to accredit• AOA Specialty Colleges and Councils fostered growth
