2010 Parish Plan Reduce Parish carbon footprint

by maximising use of renewable energy and reducing fossil fuel usage;

Investigate technologies and financial incentives; promote individual and community projects;

Ensure future housing developments meet sustainable and energy efficient standards.

These were soon merged into one Aim – to reduce the carbon footprint by

10% per year Started by asking the community to fill

in the Carbon Footprint Calculator from the Energy Saving Trust. Very few did so this has not been a

success

Renewables Insulation Draught proofing

Solar PV panels on the Village Hall

Several households in the village have installed biomass boilers, solar PV and hot water

Village Hall Solar PV Installed December 2011 – just before tariff

reduction Ideal position – south facing, no shading 4KW system Delays getting planning permission Total cost £12.5K funded by

Donations - £2.5K Personal loans - £5K (since repaid) VH reserves - £5K

Generated 3,600 KWh in first year generating income of approx £1.6K
