Water The district is the birth place of six rivers -
Thunga, Bhadra, Hemavathi, Vedavathi, Yagachiand Netravathi
The net irrigated area is 12% to the net area sown
The present requirement of water in Chikkamagaluru city is around 22 lakh gallons per day. This is met from Hirekolale tank, Honnammanagalla and borewells/mini water supply scheme.
Chikkamagaluru city municipality is planning to get water permanently from Yagachi reservoir back water

Power Transmission in the district is being done
byHubli Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM)
The Chikkamagaluru district is served with power received from Sharavathi Hydro electric project and Bhadra power generating station.
Chikkamagaluru district is fed power from Master receiving station Shimoga on 110 KV and 66 KV transmission lines.
KPTCL plans to establish sub stations at Kalasapura, Yagati, Neralakere, Shivani, Muthinakoppa in addition to upgrading few stations, replacing transformers and circuit breakers and providing additional transformers.

Tourism• Baba-Budan Hills Range situated towards north of
Chikkamagalur town. The loftiest point of the range is Mullaiyanagiri which is about 6355 feet above sea level. Dattatreya Peetha is situated on the Baba- Budan Hills Range. A laterite cave is situated here.
• Sri Sharada Peeta, Sringeri & Sharadamba Temple: The world famous Sharadamba Temple, Sringeri, situated on the banks of Tunga River is about 90 km from Chickmagalur.
• Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple: This is situated amidst the thick forest & hill ranges, is about 95 km from Chickmagalur.
• Srimad Rambapuri Peeta, Balehonnur: It is one of the Veerashaiva Pancha Peetas situated on the banks of the river Bhadra, it is about 55 km from Chickmagalur.
• Kalaseshwara temple, Kalasa- It is known as Dakshna Kashi is about 90 km from Chickmagalur.
• Vidyaranyapura is about 1 km from Sringeri town. A stone temple of Sadashiva and Parvathi is stated to have been built in 1657.
• Chickmagalur Golf Club situated in Karadihalli Kaval is about 7 km from Chickmagalur.
• Bhadra Wild Life Sanctuary situated in Muthodi is 30 km from Chickmagalur.
• Kudremukh National Park is situated 100 km from Chickmagalur.
• Mullaiahnagiri: Water Falls like Manikya Dhara, Kallathagiri, Hebbe, (Big & Small) Shanthi, Hanumana Gundi, Kadambi, Sirimane, Hirekolale.
