WHAT IS CIMA PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT?
• CIMA professional development is the continuing professional development scheme for
CIMA members.
• Introduced in January 2006, it requires all CIMA members to learn throughout their
career in order to:
– Maintain their professional competence
– Develop their skills and knowledge
– Maintain the integrity and credibility of the qualification and the profession.

HOW IS IT MONITORED?
• CIMA professional development is a self-verification scheme – you don’t need to
complete an annual return
• A sample of members will be selected for monitoring each year
• Applying for an exemption
• 12 months (initially) but all members should keep their records for three years.
