Circular walk from Coverackto Lowland Point (about 5 miles)
This walk, one of the best on the Lizard Peninsula, takes you along lowcliffs to the promontory of Lowland Point, then past the dramatic remainsof Dean Quarry. A short detour brings you to the attractive square atSt Keverne, or you can take a shorter route past Roskilly’s and back alongan ancient church path through woodland glades and medieval farms.
Along the way you can discover a 2nd century AD saltworks, see thethe infamous Manacles rocks, and search for iron ore washed up from the1932 wreck of the Ocklinge. An information board at Lowland Pointexplains the fascinating geology of this Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Refreshments are available at pubs and cafés in Coverack andSt Keverne, and at Roskilly’s organic farm. Parts of this walk can be muddyin winter, and the route includes a steep climb up steps near Dean Quarry.
