  • Giant BLT (Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich), 1963.

    This sculpture is composed of nineteen separate parts. The bread, olive, bacon, lettuce, and tomato are made of vinyl stuffed with kapok, and the toothpick is made of wood. Each time it is shown in an exhibition, the parts of the sandwich must be put together, just like making a real sandwich!

    *The Spoonbridge and Cherry was created and installed in 1988. The stainless steel and aluminum sculpture is approximately 29 feet long and 13 feet tall. It is installed at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center. The sculpture is set in a pond where it acts as a fountain.
