The graphic pictures refer to the bands included in the magazine
Connotation of front cover
Led Zeppelin is coloured in red . There can be many different reasons for this which makes it ambiguous. Could represent the troubles he may of gone through in his career. Or even
The ladders may refer to how led Zeppelin has progressed in his life. Starting from the bottom and rising to the top.
The pictures in the window represent the different rock bands featured inside of the magazine. For example there is a picture of a footballer with cramp , there is a band in the magazine called “The Cramps”. This indicates that readers have a more sophisticated view of reading. This may indicate that the readers are more knowledgeable and sophisticated .
The page number is in a big bold style which entices the reader to look at that chapter in the magazine first. At the top we already see ‘’ 38 Led Zeppelin’’ in small handwriting but is repeated, this suggests that its one of the most important topic in the magazine
The colouring of this picture is black and white with an off coloured brown , this picture portrays that its still to do with rock because of the guitar but also the producer tries to relate the picture to the history and roots of rock.
The colouring of this picture contrasts to the other page of the content, its more bright involving colours such as blue and yellow. It shows that the music is much more modern.
The phrase on the above is used to attract the readers attention, the phrase itself shows that there’s jealousy among the rock bands and this makes the reader want to know more about the history and how it all started and ended.
The Contents Page
In both pictures there are males shown, this stereotypically showing that rock is a male orientated genre of music.
Double Page Spread
This pictures The Black Sabbath who were a heavy metal rock band from 1968 2006.
You can tell this picture was taken a while back by the style of clothes and their hair.
As you can see the layout of the double page spread as been arranged as one page of information regarding the band and the other is them.
I believe the members have different statuses in the band. The person at the front has a high status as he is the biggest and most of his body is being shown , this makes him the focal point of the picture. Also the person at the top I believe to be a main member in the back as he is the top almost looking down on the others.
Here is a pull out quote that attracts the audience leaving them wanting to read onThe spread is in all black an white which corresponds with their name .Another reason for there being no colour is because we don't know anything about what is going to be said and also shows the age of the photo
The band members are all looking up in a diagonal direction which may draw your attention to the article.
