The use of a single web address on rings issued throughout Europe has been tested and found to be effective in increasing reporting rates by members of the public. The address, www.ring.ac, takes users to a multi-language website wheredetails of the bird they have found can be entered. These details are sent directly to the appropriate schemes andfinders are informed about the ringing details of birdsin the usual way.
The European Union for Bird RingingEURING is the co-ordinating organisation for European bird-ringing schemes.
It aims to promote and encourage:
* Scientific and administrative co-operation between national ringing schemes * Development and maintenance of high standards in bird ringing * Scientific studies of birds, in particular those based on marked individuals * The use of data from bird ringing for the management and conservation of birds
These objectives are achieved mainly through co-operative projects, the organisation of meetings and the collection of data in the EURING Data Bank.

Web address on rings & internet platform for ring reporting EURING Analytical ConferencesThese meetings focus on the development, understanding and integration of new methodologies in the analysis of ringing data with special emphasis on capture-recapture statistics. Since 1986 nine meetings have been organized in Europe and the United States. For all of them proceedings have been produced which demonstrate the state of the art statistical methods with animal marking data.

EURING 2000+ Code
EURING has a standard set of codes that are used by Ringing Schemes throughout Europe. The use of these codes by the European schemes facilitates easy data transfer between schemes and provides analysts with cross-european data sets in a standard format.
